Former LSU Basketball player Ben Simmons announced Tuesday that he will be signing a shoe deal with Nike over Adidas. Per SI.com:

According to reports, Simmons was deciding between five-year endorsement offers from both companies. The Adidas deal is more lucrative, offering $10 million overall, a $2 million signing bonus and a number of on-court incentives. Nike offered $7.5 million with less incentives, however, Paul’s agency, Klutch Sports, heavily represents athletes signed by Nike.

Please, all this hate! And for what? Y'all knew he was only gonna play one year of college ball before going pro. Y'all knew this before he signed with LSU. Y'ALL KNEW THIS. Now all y'all shittin on him because he is chasing his dream when every last one of you would do the same if given the opportunity to do so. Why should he show y'all any loyalty? No, dude, that's not it, that's not it at all. I'm happy for any LSU person who does well after LSU. It's the cheesiness of making a video to announce who you've signed a shoe deal with. This announcement sounds like it was written by his PR person. It's insincere as could be. Maybe you're not old enough to remember people like Joe Nameth and Allen Iverson who said what they thought and didn't act like such tools.

Leland'S: bad examples. Namath is known as a drunk now, and Iverson is known as a pothead. Plus media wasn't as abundant then as it is now. Nobody would be posting videos like this if nobody was watching. Maybe you're to young to remember that there was a time when you would find out who's one your favorite college football/basketball/baseball etc. team when they showed up to play for the first time. Now, thanks to multiple media outlets, you find out who will be one the roster 2, even 3 years in advance. This is the modern world. You can continue to live in the past or embrace the future...
