Following LSU's 80-71 win over Missouri at the PMAC on Tuesday night, ESPN's Joe Lunardi provided some insight as to how the Tigers could find a way to the NCAA Tournament.

As of now, Lunardi has LSU (18-12, 11-6 SEC) out of the NCAA Tournament and said that the Tigers must win the season finale at Kentucky on Saturday and get to the SEC Tournament Final to improve their chances of an at-large bid.

First Four Out
Tulsa
St. Bonaventure

Florida

Next Out
George Washington
Ohio State
LSU
Washington

Losing at Kentucky on Saturday will most likely send the Tigers to the NIT unless they win the SEC Tournament and get an automatic bid.

The SEC Tournament starts on Wednesday, March 9th at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. Tournament seeding and tip-off times TBA.

"and go at least to the SEC Tournament Final." Kind of a poor use of "at least". The only other further option is to win the Final and at that point it's an automatic bid. That being said, we will probably do what no one expects and win @ Kentucky and then drop game 1 of the SEC tournament.

We need Alabama to lose to Arky and/or Georgia. Win against UK at Rupp is unlikely, but Lunardi is just estimating that prediction because our OOC Rpi is awful. We can dilute it with more and more SEC games. LSU's sec schedule will end the season as best strength if schedule. If we tie 1st with that, we will have a top 20 conference Rpi before the SEC tourney.

Lets just hope they lose to UK so we can all stop pretending to care.

Why would Florida and Alabama get in ahead of us? We should end up with a better overall record than both. Do they have that much better wins than we do?
