BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU men’s basketball team defeated Omaha, 99-73, on Friday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
With the victory, LSU improves its overall record to 5-0, while Omaha falls to 2-4 on the season.
In the first half, LSU shot 18-of-31 (58.1%) from the floor and 9-of-19 (47.4%) from distance. Omaha went 14-of-35 (40%) and just 3-of-13 (23.1%) from the arc. LSU closed the half carrying a 13-point advantage, 50-37.
Maintaining the first half tempo, LSU made 15-of-32 (46.9%) field goals, 13 from deep. Omaha recorded 12-of-31 shots for 38.7 percent with 21 rebounds.
Max Mackinnon led the Tigers in scoring with 22 points on 7-of-11 from the field and six treys. Dedan Thomas Jr. recorded a double-double on 15 points and 10 assists. Along with Max and Dedan, three other Tigers scored in double figures including Michael Nwoko (14), PJ Carter (12) and Jalen Reed (11).
Lance Waddles was the leading scorer for the Mavericks, finishing with 19 points on 6-of-14 shooting and four treys.
The Tigers are back on the court Friday, Nov. 28, travelling to face Drake in the Emerald Coast Classic. The game will tip off at 8:30 p.m. CT at Raider Arena in Niceville, Florida.
