Mount St. Mary's freshman pitcher Deven Sheerin announced his commitment to LSU out of the transfer portal on Friday night.


Sheerin, a 6-5, 245-pound freshman from Reading, Pa., recently received two 2024 postseason honors this week.

EMMITSBURG, Md. (June 13, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's freshman pitcher Deven Sheerin received two postseason honors, given by a pair of organizations this week. He was named a Second Team Freshman All-American from Perfect Game and a NCAA Division I East All-Region Second Team from ABCA/Rawlings.

Sheerin excelled in his first collegiate season. Pitching in 18 contests for the Mountaineers, the Reading, Pennsylvania native set the team record for strikeouts in a season by fanning 109 opponents. He also set records for opponents' batting average (.197) and strikeouts per nine (14.01). He was credited with six victories for the team, including in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship May 22 against Canisius.
