HOOVER, Ala. – Mississippi State rightfielder Gunner Halter delivered the game-winning single in the bottom of the 17th inning Thursday morning, as the fourth-ranked Bulldogs posted a 6-5 win over No. 16 LSU in the SEC Tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

The game was the longest in LSU history in both innings played (17) and time elapsed (6 hours, 43 minutes).

If we could field the ball cleanly we would have won. I know the announcers kept saying he'd be safe anyways, but he was only half way to first when Broussard booted it.

I was/am still driving from central Texas to Montana. Really helped make the all nighter driving more bearable. The radio feed on LSUsports.net went out right after Duplantis scored to put us up—I think in the 16th. Not sure if the radio went out for everyone else or not—but i’m blaming the loss on my not being able to tune in

They showed grit last nite/this morning. Just couldn't get the clutch hit. Hilliard was a beast. Gonna be tough playing in just a few hours. Hopefully, we can muster enough to get past AU and go from there.

There isn’t the money factor anymore. This is a 2 seed and deservedly so considering the series loss to Ole Miss and MO with all those mid-week soft rpi loses. 40+ wins look better than 37.
