I take every thing Whiznot says with a grain of salt. We are talking about a guy that has a man crush on Hutson Mason.

No, it's just that I despise turnovers because that is no statistic more important than turnover margin. Last year our turnover margin was really good because Mason was so efficient with only 4 interceptions and Pruitt's defense ball hawked well.

Golson's big ability is running but he fumbles frequently. We don't need a running, fumbling QB.

Better get used to it buttercup. If you think Ramsay or Bauta aren't going to turn the football over a shite ton you are sorely mistaken. If there is anything those two have proven....they are pretty careless with the rock.

I don't think anyone sees him as the 2nd coming of Mariota. But there's no comparison between the situation he's leaving and here. For reasons I stated before. He was sacked 27 times last year. He has a very good arm on the move. Brian Kelly needed him to be the entire offense last season. Ever remember them running the ball inside the 10 ? Me either

Not gonna paint him as something he's not. I'd be way more jacked if we were talking Braxton miller. But I don't see how it's debatable we'd be substantially better off with golson as starter next year

If we don't get golson, we will start missing Hutson pretty quickly IMO

There is absolutely no way this will actually happen. It goes against everything CMR stands for.

ESPN is reporting that they don't think Golson could get an SEC waiver anyhow.

I would rather go with any of the current guys than see a Notre Dame guy just waltz in and take over. Maybe I'm biased because I hate Notre Dame.

One of my favorite UGA plays was in the NCG against ND when we kicked off deep to start the second half and both ND returners ran forward to block allowing us to recover the world's longest onside kick. I laughed so hard that I choked.

I hate ND as much as anyone. I pulled for GT to beat them in the 2007 opener because I hate them so much. But I can't deny that Golson would be an upgrade over anything currently on our roster. He can make the same short passes that Mason made and he's a playmaker. He fumbled a lot at ND but UGA wouldn't put the ENTIRE offense on Golson's shoulders like ND did. He would have way, way more help at the skill positions and on the OL than he ever did at any point in his ND career.

Gatorhata9, how would you feel in Georgia brought in Jeff Driskell?

Just joking, of course.

havent read this whole thread, but do not want.

He hasnt shown me anything that blows my mind. Classic spread system QB who shines against weaker competition. Don't want the attention it would bring either.

Waxy,

A bunch of quarterbacks fall into the Jacory Harris category & Golson prolly does too

I dunno if he was processed or begged to stay, but it says a lot that he's leaving ND

How will you feel when we sign him?

It sounds like he is wanting to come to either us or usce. If he's only in it for a year a smart person would take the team that can take him further. I highly doubt, if uga is an option, that he chooses to go to Columbia. We're a stud qb away from having a team that could compete for it all.. even though he's black, he has to see that.....

Your 'when' should be 'if'. And if we sign him I'll be shocked and amazed.

Even a pedestrian QB looks to be an upgrade. And he is not pedestrian.

SHOCKED AND AMAZED. THAT'S ALL YOU'RE GETTING FROM ME.

Unless you're willing to pay a small, but meaningful, fee.

I had mixed feelings about this but then I put it into the context of if he was simply a high level recruit would we offer him a scholarship? The answer most likely being "yes".

The biggest downsides would be the distractions to the team, learning new playbook, and knocks against Richt and his loyalty to his current players.

From our end, I think it simply will come down to whether the coaches believe we have our guy or not.

I would be very, very surprised if Richt were to insert an academic risk, one year transfer and upset the players that have committed and paying the price to be players at UGA. Completely out of character. Won't happen, forget it.
