Plus, the fact he only has one year is not the plus some think it is

Our defense should be really good this year, and who the hell knows how much longer we can hang on to Pruitt. JSW and MM are both gone after this year. So is most of our OL. We've got a lot of pieces in place to make a legit run this year, except for QB.

Ramsey could end up being a good QB. Not Murray or Stafford level, but a better version of Mason IMO. What I'm saying is I don't think he's going to carry us on his back in '16 even with a year of experience this year. And I mean this isn't investing for retirement, you fire the bullets you've got now. I'd take EG in 15 for a chance at a playoff run, rather than taking our lumps with a new guy and then hoping for the best in 16.

with the exception of Shockley, that's kind of CMR's model

Because the starter has always been better. He hasn't ever played an upperclassman over someone better simply because they were an upperclassman. The only time this kinda happened was 06, but we'll never know what their plan was for stafford that year because we ended up havin gto play him when JT got hurt. How many other times can you recall that we've had a new guy be clearly better than the upperclassman that started over him? And murray doesnt' count because he couldn't even throw a ball in 2009 until October.

Golson never recovered after the interception on the last drive against FSU. Up until that point, he was a Heisman candidate. I think he could benefit from a change of scenery, and having a run game as powerful as ours would help him too.

Lost in the Golson discussion is the reason he's transferring. He pretty much had lost his job to the backup QB Zaire, basically due to turnovers during bad losses. He actually had to start sharing the QB position with Zaire by the end of last season.

Yeah, I just don't see our staff jumping at the chance to grab him. He's got a lot of talent, and maybe if we could have had him all Spring, but ... not happening now.

But it would be a fun ride if they snagged him, no doubt.

And, again, I think they expect Eason to redshirt and Ramsey to be a two year starter, something Golson can't give them.

That would just be stupid as shat. Seriously. What a effing WASTE that would be...

I would feel for them is because they made their decision to come here by knowing the job could likely be theirs when Murray and Mason graduated, worked hard and did their time on the bench

Well between 3 guys, surely they knew that only 1/3 would actually get to start. And you don't start simply by putting in your time, you start because you're the best QB on campus. If EG comes in and is the best QB on campus, well...

Of course. Kelly is an offensive guy so I'm sure he'd have similar offensive coaching here. But our run game is better than ND's, our defense is going to be better than theirs was, and I don't know about their receivers but I'd imagine JSW/MM/IM would be on par or better than theirs. Plus our OL is legit.

Except that Eason doesn't think that way, and is actually expecting to red shirt a year, working on his game and getting bigger. Dude is a twig right now.

imma shamed... ... Never seen a hint of this kinda roster maneuvering at UGA, thought it was awesome that we were even mentioned, real or not. It'd be one hella fall if it happened...

It really would. In all honesty I can't see UGA doing it so I am pretending now. That said, we have seen an IPF be built, a new S&C coach, a competent DC, and the addition of analysts in one year. Who knows?

He's got another year in high school and then likely early enrollment ino the UGA conditioning program. He won't be much of a "twig" when all that is done. And what would you expect him to say? Bottom line, if he redshirts, you get two years with his talent and that's it. And the first year would be a toss up since it would likely see him making what should have been freshman mistakes. I want him to get all the nervous jitters out as a freshman....grow in the job....and then give us two good, SEASONED years and a shot at a NC.

I'd take him just so South Carolina doesn't. Can his issues at QB be any worse than what we got? I'd bet money we lose 2 qbs to transfer if he comes.

God I wish UGA wasn't even involved in this discussion. The thought of a QB with big game experience sounds good, but I just don't trust Golson. He probably still has nightmares in crimson and white.

I hope this doesn't get dragged out too long. But who am I kidding...of course it will.

That's why he's coming to Athens, he wants revenge and knows his best chance at the is with us. He's already licking his chops for October 3rd.

Feel free to give me any downside to taking him as a graduate student? What's the worst possible scenario in your opinion? He doesn't contribute? So you wouldn't take a 1 year flyer on a QB who's QB'ed a BCSNCG? Is it gonna hurt Brice's or Bauta's feelings, will it upset some kind of balance or chemistry on the team if he gives it a shot?

What exactly is the down side? He winds up 3rd string & gets a Grad degree from UGA??...
