Yeah, right. The midget turnover machine wants to be curb stomped again. No thanks.

Few points to make about that:
1. Golson was asked to carry Notre Dame to a win over Alabama as a sophomore. If he were to transfer to UGA, he wouldn't be asked to carry anything. This is going to be a run first, run second team.
2. 2015 Alabama won't be nearly as good as 2012 Alabama. That 2012 Alabama team was unreal, especially on the offensive line. They scored at will on ND and forced the Irish into a shootout. Golson was on a far less talented offense in 2012 than he would be in 2015.
3. Again, he was one of the two or three leading Heisman candidates before the end of the FSU game. That was a controversial ending (I think they got the call right, FWIW) that sent Golson and Notre Dame into a free fall. A change of scenery into a better offense with better talent around him may do wonders for him. At the very least, it makes the transition to Eason less awkward.

Good lord.

Also, his turnover issues were largely fumbles and not as much about interceptions. That's a big deal considering we would ask him to run a lot less than Notre Dame did.

I'd take him just so South Carolina doesn't. Can his issues at QB be any worse than what we got? I'd bet money we lose 2 qbs to transfer if he comes.
This.
We're set with Eason. We have nothing to lose IMO.

Feel free to give me any downside to taking him as a graduate student? What's the worst possible scenario in your opinion? He doesn't contribute? So you wouldn't take a 1 year flyer on a QB who's QB'ed a BCSNCG?
I never said there would be a downside if he wanted to come here and we took him, nor did I say I wouldn't take him.
I would in a heartbeat and would love to have him.
But if Golson wanted a QB competition, he would have stayed at ND, where he was well and truly in one.
He is leaving ND to make sure he can start somewhere for one year. He will want a guarantee. Does any Dawg fan really think CMR will give him one? Hayell no. Heck, CMR would sit down with him, let him know he'll give him a fair shot, and then tell him about the SEC programs that would definitely start him next year and even call the coaches personally to make sure the doors were open.
CMR's a nice guy, he's not going to go Evil Richt and lie to get the kid on campus. He will be painfully honest, which means Golson ain't coming here.
But yeah, I would like him to. Just ain't happening, imvho. It would be great if I'm wrong, though.

I'm in because of all of that. One year of golson. Three years of Eason. Sorry Ramsey/bauta/park.

Richt would say "Hey, wanna start at Georgia? Because you will start at Georgia."

Thank you for condensing my long winded response... With all the changes in our culture & Jere saying "frick it" just win...
If Golson could help us he'll be recruited...
Old Mofo's like me have gotta stand back just a little & look at the new paradigm...It's Richt, Pruitt, Hocke & all the recruiting machines we've hired as position coaches...
Prez. JM has given ADGM & the AD the go ahead to "do it", the IPF & the new support staff & the recruiting dynamic we're employing now...
This ain't Michael Adams UGA...

I'll believe it when I see it. And I know Jere. He ain't Michael Adams, but he worked for/with him a LONG time.
So, like I said -- when I see it, I'll believe it. Right now, I don't believe it.

I really don't either but I hope it's cause we're not being passive...I hope It'll be decided by the academic committee deciding if his grades are O.K....
If they say no... I'm good with that....

Well I would love to see it. And I do think Morehead will be a better Prez for the football program than MA was (wouldn't be hard), although I thought he was an odd choice.
I am rooting for Morehead to be an outstanding Prez and I am rooting for Evil Richt to make an appearance and start an apocalyptic reign of Dawg terror upon the SEC and the world.
That having been said, even if we get Golson and give him the keys to the kingdom, I don't see him as a savior. Would be hella fun to watch though.

On the flip side, they lost a good bit of those. I think he went something like 8-5 his senior year. His junior year he was ineligible because of academics. Plus, the fact he only has one year is not the plus some think it is.
What are you babbling about. There was no way they'd possibly pull out 10 wins and nobody expected it. They lost idk how many starters on defense, had no receivers whatsoever to throw to, and played the 4th toughest schedule in cfb.
Golson wouldn't be asked to do anywhere near as what he was under Kelly's offense. He'd play behind a vastly better line this season with a lethal ground game and some nice receiving options
And I can't imagine richt would RS Eason but I could be wrong. With this staff I can't imagine they're looking ahead 3 yrs from now for Eason to make an impact. I don't think I'll be the only one surprised if CJP isn't lured away in that time frame. This staff is here to win NOW
I really hope they do this

With Golson at the helm I think we would be favored to beat Alabama & Auburn this year usc gameflops would be a speed bump.
Could we go undefeated?

I take every thing Whiznot says with a grain of salt. We are talking about a guy that has a man crush on Hutson Mason.

So I babble. It's what I do.
Anyway, Golson was about to lose the starting QB job at ND, which is the reason he is leaving.
The thought of him playing here doesn't make me as giddy as a school girl like some of you on here.
I wouldn't mind seeing it happen, but it wouldn't have me making plans to attend the playoffs next season, fwiw.

perhaps i'm missing something... how are we to expect anyone, especially QB, to come in during the Summer, learn a new system, mesh with your new teammates and be a starter come September? Does this sound like something Richt would be comfortable doing?
and isn't this all a moot point considering the SEC rules for allowing in someone with disciplinary issues?

Richt ain't going to do it. Golson ain't going to do it, and even if he did we'd be getting Notre Dame's reject at QB, nothing to pee all over ourselves in happiness about.
It would be fun on message boards, but that's it and no - ain't happening.
