What about Mattison now that Hoke is gone?

Fit is as important as talent and I don't think Mattison would fit in with the rest of the staff.

Not really. It takes two to tango and I only ever hear one side of the equation. Also, there are politics involved. This isn't a democracy. Your vote and my vote are fairly irrelevant. But it's not a dictatorship either.

I said earlier that Sumlin has the moneyed interests behind him. They won't be long if they don't get appeased with this hire. When there is failure, everyone has a suggestion on how to fix it no matter how unqualified their opinion is. Lot of that going on right now. Inevitably, some people are going to get their knickers twisted because their guy is not the guy.

It's like making a big decision your wife disagrees with. It's a delicate art. You have to spend a bit of time making her feel important before doing what you wanted to do all along. And if you do it right, it comes out as her idea.

I hate the cold.

More childless, sechs-filled years for me it is, then.

I think Venables has always been the most realistic option. With his ties to Sumlin and the state, I really hope we get him. I also like the fact that he coaches linebackers.

I haven't seen anything to that extent to TA, but I could have missed it.

Someone did start a thread on TA with a link to Roger's thread saying we offered Boom $1.5M per year

The thing I like most about Venables is he has a lot of experience coordinating a D for a program that runs a hurry up. That concerns me a bit with Narduzzi and Muschamp
