re: Jim turner hired - tmc94
You could argue that the Sun revolves around the Earth. That doesn't make it true. If the people at the top had wanted a change, there would have been a change. And when the people without power realized they were stripped naked to the world, they attempted to burn the whole thing down rather t...

re: 2016 NFL Combine - tmc94
yeah almost certainly. In fact I'll be mildly surprised if he doesn't end up on an NFL roster at some point. But the draft is all about measurables and they don't like to use picks on guys that don't have ideal NFL size. They'd rather draft a guy that if he hits has a chance to be an All-Pro rath...

re: 2016 NFL Combine - tmc94
"While it is not a perfect science, the goal of the committee is to invite every player that will be drafted in the ensuing NFL Draft." 332 players were invited. There are 224 that get selected in the NFL draft. I'm maybe mildly surprised Matthews didn't get invited but I probably shouldn't be. ...
takes a dive and pretends to get hurt.(According a player who saw him running around town after the game.)
I had not heard this but I do know that several players believe he threw the pick vs Bama on purpose. I've really never seen or heard of a player more disliked by his teammates...

re: Kyle Allen Blasts A&M Locker Room Culture - tmc94
Most of that post is fairly accurate from what I know. The Woodward/Sumlin tension sounds like supposition. They really haven't worked together long and I've not heard of any tension as of yet (though that certainly doesn't mean there isn't any) There has been disunity between the AD and football...

re: Men's Soccer, Women's Gymnastics, and Beach Volleyball - tmc94
Back to the question at hand, soccer viewers skew quite a bit younger. "In 2012, the poll determined soccer was America's second-most popular sport for those aged 12-24, ahead of NBA, MLB and college football." (ESPN research) "A Pew Research Center study in January [2014] found that 40 perce...

Meh, that's a fairly antiquated view. This is actual data from last week Pacers/Warriors, 2.0m viewers (ESPN) Heat/Raptors 1.3m (ESPN) Man City v West Ham, 1.25m (NBC) Bulls/Lakers 1.1m (TNT) Knicks/Raptors 1.0m (TNT) Certainly the NBA gets a lot more airtime right now (NBC only ai...
Maybe it beats regular season NHL games, but regardless it doesn't make a dent compared to other sports.
I'm guessing you don't know much about soccer and that's cool but this graph is horribly deceptive. It's like using a Cowboys-Redskins regular season game as the basis for fo...
I'm obviously not the norm as most sports fans want to watch the best talent possible but I'm sure there are many more people like me that just can't get into Euro leagues due to their location and the issues it causes for potential fans on the other side of the world.
I think you ar...
for the other 3 years it takes a back seat to NFL, CFB, NBA, MLB, and the NHL
Not really. The Premier League is shown on NBCsn, same as NHL. It gets better ratings despite being shown from 6am to 11am. Soccer is very fragmented in the US with MLS, Liga MX, Premier League, La Liga...
I seriously doubt more people are going to watch Stoke v Cardiff or Watford v. People don't watch college fo...
In 50 years soccer will have replaced football for top men's sport.
maybe so. But that doesn't mean college soccer will be. I think it ends up being like baseball tbh. The best go straight pro and the rest get a college education. That's okay and I'm 100% for the SEC adding socce...

re: Texas A&M Basketball 2015-2016 Season Thread (and Preview) - tmc94
Vanderbilt has now beat UF and us in the last two SEC games and their RPI is up to 54. They've won 5 of 6 in league play and are starting to play like the preseason favorites with 2 NBA first rounders that they are. Right now, I'm thinking the SEC may very well sneak 6 in the tournament....

re: Dave C out? - tmc94
I don't think those stats are very meaningful outside of context. DC's problem is not his coaching ability but that he can be very difficult to get along with. He had to go. Doesn't mean he isn't a good coach and there is no reason to slam him on the way out. But he's very highly thought of i...
