During his Wednesday interview on McElory and Cubelic in the Morning, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze didn't feel like paying for a QB via the transfer portal...
quote:

"The options that you’re presented with: develop Payton, develop Holden [Geriner], develop Hank [Brown], develop Walker [White], or go spend a million dollars on this guy," Freeze said. "I just couldn’t bring myself to doing that because I wanted to put all the pieces together.

"Now, I’m not saying I won’t do that in time. But just currently, I think the guy’s proven."

"I believe in our quarterback room. I believe in Kent Austin," Freeze said. "I believe if you have the right pieces around Payton that we can have success. I think you saw some glimpses of that, and I don’t think we had a total package around him really."

The main thing is that we gotta keep gov out of it. These have to be private agreements between schools/conferences and players just like in the NFL...owners and players.

Once the playing field is leveled, salary caps & contracts, THEN we will know what a QB is worth.

For the 10th time, it’s is the Supreme Court and rulings that trump the ncaa. NCAA can’t do anything anymore due to the court recent rulings, or be sued

SCOTUS ruled in favor of Alston 9-0. Even your beloved "liberal" justices joined the "conservative" justices.

It would be so easy for NCAA to apply a cap for player to receive. Instead, they just sit there being worthless.

And then it would be equally easy for a player to sue them and have the court tell them that the cap cannot be enforced. Sorry but the day of the NCAA is over. Their rules are just a house of cards just waiting for someone to file a lawsuit. Has the NCAA had a single court win in the past 10 years??? The only way a cap can be implemented is if the players are declared employees of the school or conference, they unionize, and then sign a CBA with their employer that agrees to a cap.

This is supreme ignorance. NIL = endorsements. In no way shape or form can endorsements be limited or capped.

If Riley Leonard or whomever they got outbid for wins you multiple extra games per year, it's worth it.

This is a sport that is dying and has been since 2020. It’s a like star and it’s final stage. It reminds me of our country.

Why pay for a QB when you could spend it on hookers??

Okay, I'll say it.....NIL, the transfer portal, and the NCAA is destroying collegiate football.

Kudos to Brian Kelly for refusing to go along with the "best team that money can buy" scheme.

I thought the purpose of a collegiate scholarship, was so a young athlete could get a quality education in a great university?

Anyone who willingly gives a competitive advantage to his opponents in the SEC will soon be unemployed.

Brian Kelly still has guys on his team that demanded NIL to go there. He is not some bastion of integrity because he was given a budget.
user avatar
Funny, because you guys blasted Saban for echoing similar sentiments.

But he was cool with hookers on the cell phone. I don’t want to hear his shite.

It is called semi pro football coach. Join the Sunbelt if you are going to complain about playing the cash game.

Then pull it out of the colleges and "amateur" sports, set a sliding scale like the NFL, have a draft with contractual obligations and free agency rules. It is out of control.

Oh, and tax the colleges. If they're going to be just another pro sports league, then the colleges can pay taxes like any other pro league.

Crazy that it's come to this. Not even a mention of so called "NIL".. Straight pay to play and they aren't even trying to sugar coat it
