Frank Broyles hiring Ken Hatfield over Jimmy Johnson in 1984 when Jimmy Johnson wanted and begged for the job.

Pat Dye forced resignation. AU was set to repeat the decade of the 80s in the 90s but instead we got a couple of great seasons and mediocrity once Dye's recruits were gone. Looking back, Dye could have survived the Ramsey scandal but people were still freaking out over SMU death penalty at the time and AU overreacted.

I don't know man.....they had Dye and AU dead to rights. It was shitty what Ramsey did but they got caught. If AU had refused to fire Dye, it would have been a lot worse.

Ed Orgeron. He was a terrible head coach and all of our current problems can be traced back to him.

Ramsay had Corky Frost on the record calling him the N-word. That whole regime had to go.

all your current problems can be traced to Archie Manning. Aaaaachay brought Freeze for one reason. They knew he would be a "yes man""

Hell Mullen is more to blame than Orgeron

Blowing off Spurrier and hiring Mike Archer. Also hiring Alleva after the piss poor way he handled the Duke Lacrosse situation.

For Bama it would have to be the Bockrath/Sorenson debacle of running off Gene Stallings

LSU's administration screwed up with Cecil Collins & Jamarcus Russell.

JR could have been rerouted away from the 'black-hole' that is The Oakland Raiders currently.(2007 also)

Cecil Collins required supervision & therapy(1997) and even an idiot can figure that out. But cheapskate LSU who spends one fourth the monies Alabama is willing to spend will not.

Keep telling yourself that, darling.

Tell me, who hired Freeze and taught him everything he knows about recruiting and how to utilize boosters?

I'm sure you'll respond with some predictable "Oh Freeze has always been a scumbag. Nobody taught him how to be that" comment

Again, Freezus was Director of Recruiting while at OM. That's not an OJT kind of job. He was hired because he was a sleezebag then too.

I would go back a little further and say it was when the school president (Joab Thomas??) wanted Bobby Bowden to interview for the job after Perkins left. When Bowden went in to talk to him about the job his wife and kids were at the Galleria buying all the Alabama merchandise they could get. Bowden was expecting a job offer and Alabama wanted him to interview. Should have offered on the spot.

Gene Stallings was an old man by 1996, had a Super Bowl ring, national championships and nothing left to prove. He was going to ride off into the sunset by the late 90s even in the best of conditions.

He offered to take the job back in 2003, so he still had the fire. Bockrath definitely forced him out.

Another terrible decision was hiring Bill Curry over Bobby Bowden in 1987.

Holy shite

That was before my time. I'd heard that Bowden was a possibility but never heard the whole story. WTF was that all about??
