When has UCLA won anything?? damn!

Once again, as has been pointed out repeatedly, FSU does not have a neutral site game scheduled every year taking away a normal home game every other year.
That is where the situations differ.
It's not hard to understand.

They were both independent at one time. The years that Miami and Florida State were both in their own conferences, neither played a neutral site game to take a home game away from the schedule. This was before the big tv money and when schools lived and died monetarily on home game revenue. Now, that doesn't matter, but Miami refused to renew the yearly rivalry when Florida approached them under Urban Meyer.

You apparently have selective reading issues. Look, I don't have a dog in the fight. But, I am very familiar with this issue.
There was no way for Florida to schedule FSU and Miami and also be in the only conference at that time that required the number of home and away conference games. Additionally, Florida had a neutral site annual game. Florida would not be able to make budget. It is as simple as that.

So the reason is that Florida was too poor? Makes sense

Let's put it this way:
IF USCw was in a separate conference from UCLA. Stanford was in a separate conference also. UCLA had a neutral site game in Fresno every year against Cal. And now, USCw fans want to know why you can't play 8 conference games in an 11 game football season and one of those conference games can't be at home, and also play both USCw and Stanford home and away out of conference.
Nobody on the planet would schedule both.

Well, back then they were. Seriously. I used to work in higher ed admin. Florida athletics fiscally sucked, their foundation was non-existent, their boosters were disorganized and power hungry.

Foley fixed all of that.

Why would UF give a home game up every other year and give that revenue to a private school?

who said that? It's just interesting that Florida state has never had an issue with playing Miami but you guys do
Just going by all the "UF is afraid" posts, I was under the impression you thought UF needs to both schedule Miami regularly and play out of state. They're mutually exclusive.
Also, we don't have an issue playing Miami. We play them every few years when the schedule allows it, which is good enough for me.
