As much as it pains me to agree with an LSU poster after the collective TSIO bashing, Geoge is correct. College rankings are BS and Admins know how to manipulate them.
Here's one method that's very popular: Recruit and send mail to all kinds of HS students you have no intention of accepting. They are flattered and think they have a shot so they apply. They get turned down. Not only have you made money on the app fee but you've bumped your 'exclusivity' ranking.

Seriously, Mr. Jefferson wouldn't post in the SECrant with a 39 & a half foot pole...

It would be cool to see some lists of the 50 flagship universities+A&M sorted by their respective rankings according to US News, Forbes, Washington Monthly etc...
So when we say Mississippi State is the worst school in the SEC we'll have some national context.
Just an idea...or we could continue bullshitting.

I've trolled you guys in the past but I honestly didn't mean that as a hook. Poor wording on my part.
That list would be really interesting. I guess it wouldn't just be 50 but more like 75-80. At most two public universities per state; the original school and the ag/tech/manufacturing school. Minnesota would just have one: U of M while Iowa would have two.

judging by this...
LINK
the average Arkansas Grad is bringing in a higher mid-career salary than the average Georgia grad, while Georgia students pay 31% higher tuition.

Only Florida, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt are in the AAU. Big Four.

Do these schools have anything going for them? I mean I understand letting LSU's and UK's academic mediocrity slip by since they bring around quality programs, but how are these places bottom of the list in academics and athletics?
The vet my family uses and the weather man I watch (JP Dice on the local fox channel in B'ham) both have graduate degrees from State. Also, I've heard great things about their turf management program but I am not involved with that line of work so I really have no idea.

Pay is subjective. What I can make in Florida doing the exact same job in Georgia is very different. That can be said for every location in the country. It's hard to quantify that and say well this school's average rate is around 40k but this school is located in areas that have a very low cost of living therefore most kids that graduate will have a pay scale that is in line with that cost of living.

Georgia isn't AAU? That's actually surprising since they spend a lot on research. AAU is a bit of a joke overall, but once you get it you want to keep it.

so the data is being skewed by the overall strength in the Arkansas economy vs. Georgia?...got it

LSU, or Louisiana State University—Baton Rouge, is a public institution in the southeast region of the state, near the Mississippi River. Students at LSU can explore more than 350 student organizations or visit several free museums and an arboretum.
shite, why do I attend a school that's only god for several free museums and 350 different resume padders?

Cost of living has very little do with current economy and has a lot more to do with inflation or lack thereof.
