If they were smart they'd look at the Big Ten. Find an assistant with a ton of potential who won't be moving up with their program, and give them the resources they need.

If we find a way to win 9 games, I have serious concerns they will offer Mullen big money.

The most amazing stat I saw from that game was Shawn Watson's refusal to go away from the HUNH...

UT drives & TOP, most were 3 & out...

3 PLAYS, 7 YARDS, 1:12
6 PLAYS, 19 YARDS, 2:31
3 PLAYS, -7 YARDS, 1:55
9 PLAYS, 60 YARDS, 2:04
5 PLAYS, 49 YARDS, 1:23
3 PLAYS, -8 YARDS, 1:32
3 PLAYS, -6 YARDS, 1:44
3 PLAYS, 3 YARDS, 0:51
10 PLAYS, 39 YARDS, 2:35

Gotdamn... Sumthin' wasn't working Watson...

Bert would be a good fit. A much bigger stage when you are winning, superior recruiting ground, better support, less competition in-league, etc.

Plus, wait until he finds out they have breakfast tacos and sell bbq by the pound.

You shut your whore mouth! Bert is ours for keeps.

There isn't a single A&M fan on this board who thinks Charlie Strong is a good hire. What a coincidence!

Yet, another "coincidence" is Sumlin has yet to win anything STILL, in year 4 at Texas A&M. I guess if Sumlin had the same track record at UT he should be fired by aggy standards?

once again, weird that you focus on a&m when other posters are being critical of strong

In fairness I have to think Texas would trade places with A&M in terms of recent success without thinking twice about it.

he will get a minimum of 4 years

Not so sure. If they end up with 5 or 6 wins he gets 1 more year and probably has to win 8 next year to get a 4th.

If the AD Steve Patterson gets canned (a lot of alumni hate this guy) after the season, Charlie could be done at Texas this year. Not likely but if Steve Patterson gets the axe, anything can happen.

What coach will take on that train wreck if only given a two year leash? No way they fire Strong this season. Doubt they could afford to even if they wanted anyway.

Hell, they're still paying Brown.

When Patterson is removed, Charlie will be too.

Couldn't happen to a more entitled fan base.

Patterson has pissed off a lot of people BEFORE the season started. Had to do with parking, tickets, etc...etc...

In the midst of widespread meltdown over there. They are going to get absolutely torched on TV 3 or 4 times this season.

They should beat Rice but what if they don't. What if Rice gets out on top and texass just quits like they did against Arkansas? What if texass beats rice by 3??? Strong wasn't that animated on the sideline in the second half... he looked confused. Looked like Briles at the end of a bowl game.

They are already eating their own kids over there. Divided and pretty messy.

this is very possible. i am fascinated by this topic so i listen and read a lot of austin media on this and Patterson is in real trouble, especially if this football season is a disaster. hes raised ticket prices, some by 50% and the fans are about to revolt. Strong was his hire and he pissed off the big brass by not asking their opinion and going with a search firm.

this will get interesting. ive always liked Texas but im rooting for total chaos right now to see the shitstorm. if they lose to Rice this weekend, shite will hit the fan.

its no lie Mack didnt recruit well the past two years, but IMO he was great for that job with UT. hes the perfect CEO hold baby, shake hands coach and i think he would have eventually come back to the top with some right moves on the staff- new OC/DC.

we will see, curious what Mack thought watching that game the other night, lol

You're right, I do think how is tenure at USC ended would still be a concern, but if Kiffin could get Saban to support him it'd go a long way.

Saban recommended Houston Nutt to be his successor at LSU. Not sure I can take his seal of approval seriously.

According to some posts on Shaggy the season ticket holders received tickets and it said on them "not for resale". A few said they are aware that the athletic department is looking at aftermarket sites like Stubhub to figure out which season ticket holders are selling their seats. Not sure what is going on over there with Patterson.

Don't know if 100% accurate but lots of talk about how he also changed tailgating, pulled licenses for logo from different sites, all kinds of stuff that you don't even think about the AD getting involved in. Bizarre.

Gary Patterson was on their list last time.

Of course... so was Harbaugh, Pete Carroll, Gruden, O'Brian, Briles, Saban, and Franklin.

They got their 6th or 7th choice. But it was "the one they wanted all along". LOL
