Money is going to be no object. Does Saban even have a buyout on his current contract? seems that I read somewhere that he didn't.

Chad Morris if he continues to coach like he did the other night. They'll do well to hire that guy if he's as good as advertised.

I can see this happening but Texas is too arrogant. They'll overlook him until a school from the PAC 12 scoops him up and the they'll have this shite look on their faces. Ironically Texas A&M gets a black coach and tu thinks they can buy some chocolate too and get the same results.

If Bama wins the natty this year, Kiffin will be a hot commodity. Kiffin would be an excellent hire for UT.

As unlikely as people may think it is, I was actually thinking this just the other day. It looks like despite losing our top three WRs and starting QB (and starting RB, but Henry out gained Yeldon last year anyway) the offense isn't gonna miss much of a beat, so if it continues to show improvement and Bama makes it back to the playoffs, I could see Texas going after Kiffin. They're not gonna get Saban, even if he considered to go we'd match or go over any offer anyone makes to him. So why not go get a guy who has been learning how Saban runs things for a couple of years while also being a great offensive coach?

This is the list: list

quote:

Here is my list of the Top 15 potential coaches which eliminates some of the best coaches because of their age/assumed desire to recruit at a new destination. Which of these names are realistic the job at this $ amount given the potential of UT football? Who else is sure fire enough to be worth this kind of pay package?

Dream UT coaches:
$15mn/yr (or $75mn guaranteed)
1) Pete Carroll
2) Urban Meyer
3) Chip Kelly
4) Nick Saban
5) Sean Payton

$12mn/yr (or $60mn guaranteed)
6) Jim Harbaugh
7) John Harbaugh
8) Gus Malzahn
9) Jimbo Fisher

$10mn/yr (or $50mn guaranteed)
10) Mike Tomlin
11) Bill Cowher

$8mn/yr (or $40mn guaranteed)
12) Art Briles
13) Hugh Freeze
14) John Gruden
15) Les Miles

Eta: in all fairness, I should point out that this is one sip's list; the rest call him out pretty vehemently on it.

Wouldn't Kiffin's record as a head coach be a deal breaker though?

Saban wasn't always as good as he is now. Coaches get better over time.

You're right, I do think how is tenure at USC ended would still be a concern, but if Kiffin could get Saban to support him it'd go a long way.

That would be an improvement for Texas.

Yeah, saw that over on the texas forum. I think it's very unlikely until #8 on down.

ETA: Except for Saban.

No. Coaches are a hot commodity right now and Texas is desperate. Texas is a powerhouse I'll nod to that but people don't factor in the state. You have a shite load of D1 schools plus LSU, Oklahoma, etc.. poaching the state. Sometimes there are no deal breakers.

Doubt any coach would leave an SEC school for Texas.

No, not wishing. I think Texas will go after the best, assuming they have another disappointing year, and Saban is one of the best. He certainly brought LSU out of the doldrums.

If not Saban, I do think they'll look hard at a few SEC coaches though.

wouldn't expect it to happen but Gus's offense would fit right into the all offense, no defense Big 12.

I don't think the guy is a coach who can be trusted to turn around a program yet. Maybe after a few more years at bama someone will take another shot at him. It'll not be a (potentially) top tier school though, IMO.

Oh I'm sure they'd definitely go after Saban. If you need a coach you at least call Saban so you can say you tried.

He'd likely never consider them, but he may be kind enough to talk to them for taking the time to reach out. I don't know.
