No. NC are biased and subjective. An undefeated team isn't.

Exactly. Undefeated and untied>Undefeated>NC with at least 1 loss.

This is definitely true. NC's often depend on circumstances totally out of one's control. Not to mention some teams (like bama) claim NC's when their team was not even in the top 10 for a given year.

Not much argument when a team goes undefeated.

Anyone who ranks Neyland over Bryant is kidding themselves.

Bryant won 13 SEC Championships (10 outright, 3 split). NO ONE has come close to that. Saban only has 4 and he's the best coach of this era.

Spurrier would have more outright ones if he had stayed at UF.

He was getting fired in Wash., UF fired Zook and then Foley decided Spurrier needed to interview for the job. Never understood that but I did understand Steve's "no thanks."

If you know anything about Bear you'd know he truly revered Neyland. Read a book.

"People think I'm the greatest damn coach in the world," said the great Bear Bryant, "but Neyland taught me everything I know."

The Bear coached against Bob Neyland's Tennessee teams seven times and never beat him. "I never beat him," he said, "but I learned a lot from playing him."

Neyland missed 6 seasons because of WWII and other military obligations. All of which were in the prime of his time.

Factor those in and he has another 55 or so wins and probably another title or two. He also had to rebuild the post WWII program after a long absence.

The 39 team went unscored upon and should be considered a champ as well.

Bear was very complimentary of his opposition. Neyland, while very very good, is never mentioned in GOAT conversations. He should be but we all know that John Wooden is the one and only. Then Bear.

He did not graduate from Auburn and is thus excluded.

We were too busy stealing ND's next coach.

USC disagrees.

Most coaches don't, but don't let that get in the way of what you are trying to say. Here's one. How can Johnny Vaught be listed in this when he and Bear refused to play one another. I think anyone would agree that if Johnny and Bear played each other every year like that other team in Mississippi did then Vaught's record would not have been as impressive.
