Lol i think a national title is worth a lot more than an undefeated season, especially considering how many ties there were back then

No. NC are biased and subjective. An undefeated team isn't. Just like a SEC title isn't voted on. You can't get voted into the SECCG. A team with the exact same record as the National Champ may have been better but just didn't get voted as the champ.

Exactly. Undefeated and untied>Undefeated>NC with at least 1 loss.

I think having the Award for best coach kind of defaults Bear to #1.

1) Bear
2) Neyland
3) Saban
4) Johnny Vaught
5) Spurrier
6) Urban Meyer
7) Phil Fulmer
8) Vince Dooley
9) Frank Thomas
10) Shug Jordan

Anyone that questions Fulmer needs to look at his record. 152 wins in 16 years.

1. Bear Bryant
2. Steve Spurrier
3. Johnny Vaught
4. Gen. Neyland
5. Nick Saban
6. Phil Fulmer
7. Urban Meyer
8. Frank Thomas
9. Charley McClendon
10. Les Miles

Hon Mention: Pat Dye (cheat), Charley Pell (Cheat), Bobby Dodd (pulled GT out of the SEC), Bill Battle, Doug Dickey, Galen Hall (Kept us above .500 during severe probation), Johnny Majors (too many "down" years and no MNC @ UT).

1) Bear
2) Neyland
3) Saban

Much as I hate to say it, I agree with this top 3. Bear only a slight edge on Neyland, and I mean a pubic hair slight edge. Only because he was able to win at UK.

When I say Undefeated>NC with a loss, I am more referring back to a while ago when a lot of national championships given out were questionable. Plus, I never said undefeated seasons and NCs were the only factor when determining who the better coach was.

Terry Bowden was a good coach, but he had a terrible personality and could not recruit to save his life. That is what ultimately led to his downfall.

I admit, i don't know my pre 80's history like many of you guys probly do but I know post-integration and modern era components change things quite a bit as well as cheating being rampant in the past but if Meyer is on the list (as he should) and Saban is (def should, maybe #1 by the end considering his history w/ Belichick basically coming off his tree and his pro successes being probly heavily contingent upon that) than consider that Miles finished with an even record with Meyer and only 1 game down to Saban currently.

And Miles had less talent than them most years. I can guarantee that Miles will be on that list when the dust settles. He is, after all, Schembechler's apprentice and his greatest product. I would bet lots of cash that Miles can give a better pregame and halftime speech than any of these men, and do it off the cuff.

That is huge in the college game and his greatest game day talent. Miles would be a supernova in the pro-wrestling arena with a microphone in hand. Also, Miles was a very successful salesman before going into coaching (a trucking route contract salesman). Deadly in the living room and can match up with any man alive in that component.
