02 was way better

I've told them that as well but for some reason lots of them still think 07 (and 12) was better.

02 was without a doubt richts best team.

2001 Miami has been elevated to GOAT status simply because of how well their athletes did in the pros.

^^^This. 2001 Miami had great athletes but as far as a GOAT argument, they'd be further down the list. They had 2 games that year that they were very fortunate to win (Va Tech & Boston College)...it didn't help that the team they whipped in the Rose Bowl was arguably the worst team ever to be in a BCS Championship game...

The '95 Nebraska team was probably the best I ever saw...they had no close games and only trailed once all season. Tommie Frazier has to be one of the most underrated QB's in college football history...he's the only QB I can think of that played in 3 straight championship games ('93, '94, '95) and was only a missed FG away from winning all 3. I remember his epic TD run in the '95 BCA championship game against UF...he was unstoppable...

The only other team I saw that might could stand up to them was another Nebraska team, back in '71...

I'll throw 1942 and 1946 in too.

1942 Ohio State was the AP while Georgia won virtualy every other poll.

Both had one loss, but Ohio State did not play in a bowl game

1946 Georgia was the only undefeated team left in college football. Both Notre Dame and Army had tied each other.

We do claim 1942.

We should claim '46, would have walked a mudhole in OSU and beaten the shine off the boots of the Army players.

That still hurts to think about.

I don't think it's arguable. I can't think of a worse team. 2001 Nebraska may have been #2 in the BCS rankings, but the AP and Coaches had them at #4 behind Oregon and Colorado. Oregon should have been in that game, especially after they destroyed #3 Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl - the same Colorado team who destroyed #2 Nebraska in the final game of the regular season.

I don't know what to think about after 02. Obviously I don't know all the ins and outs of their teams, but it seems like the 12 defense while star studded had more weaknesses than 07s did. And again 07s offense was more star studded, but 12 seemed to be better. Idk, that'd be a good question to ask uga folks.

But yeah, 02 was definitely better than both.

I actually disagree. 2002 Georgia may have had the better record, but I feel as if 2007 and 2012 Georgia were more talented and explosive.

07s after the UT loss, really had a good run, for sure. Moreno had a damn good day against the Gator D (albeit that unit wasn't that good, since it was very young), but still it was a good performance. The 12 team was fantastic on O.

As much as I hate on UGA, those teams were all really good ones.

Offensively yes, those teams weren't more talented defensively. The 07 adn 12 uga defenses couldn't even hold a candle to 02. That was van gorders 1st or 2nd year I think and they were legit good, like a top 10 national D.

Their o had greene, musa smith, terrence edwards ( ), fred gibson, and others. They weren't as flashy but they were clearly better. Don't forget they went on a little tear at the end of the year too just like 07 did.

Admitting that your head coach's best team was over a decade ago must be too much to bear. What has he done lately?

That has more to do with coaching than anything else. The 2012 Georgia defense had loads of talent on it, they were just poorly coached.

I'd add 2009 Florida team.

This team should have been so much better than it was, they should have repeated as national champs.
