FWIW you cant really compare wins and losses like that.... i.e. look at the 2011 season inside the SEC, tSECCG, and tBCSCG.... by your logic this entire season made no sense at all...

But the UGA fan saying they wouldn't beat the dog shite out of us isn't a homer right
Yeah, he's being homer too. I just didn't respond to him. Point is you can at least point to MORE reasons why uga would've won than you can LSU would have. Saying "LSU won the SEC" isn't a logical argument for why LSU would beat uga.

I've said multiple times on this board that I hate the fact that we didn't get to play UGA that year. There's absolutely no guarantee they would have beaten the dog shite out of us
That I agree with. With those teams it is HIGHLY doubtful anyone would've "beaten the shite" out of the other.
quote:
UGA had bad losses, same as LSU. We lucked out because the West was weaker that year
Agree with all of that.

Same team that took UGA to overtime?
Yeah...but uga won What is is what yalls hangup on overtime?
I agree with pretty much all of the points you made. Idk it just seemed like your post that was nothing but smileys was really smug.

So did we, but we beat that 6-7 Bama team without needing overtime.

It was
Look like I said I wish we would have played UGA that year. And I get why their fans try to rationalize that season to make it look like they were the better team and would have beaten us, I'd probably be doing the same thing.

The Top 10 Best SEC Football Teams to NEVER win a National Championship?
quote:
craigbiggio
why is that funny?
starting after uga's loss the only game they had within single digit was vandy, the week after their loss. Troy (surprisingly) being the only game within 2 touchdowns. They shellacked Auburn and beat us and GT handily wihtout much trouble.
In that same time span, LSU lost to UK (that uga beat), hung on to beat a 6-7 bama team, barely beat auburn, beat up on 2 bad teams, and lost to an 8-5 arkansas team.
But yeah, of course LSU would win, this is an LSU baord afterall...
I see. So the 48-7 massacre of Conference Champion 9th ranked Virginia Tech who was ranked as high as #2 during the year just like........
never happened ????????????????????????????
The epic 28-24 victory over #7 and defending national champion Florida was like.........
a mirage ?????????
BTW, Kentucky was ranked in the Top 15 when we lost to them is 3 OTs. They ended up playing in a bowl game.
We also beat Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game as I recall. (If Georgia was so """HOT""" why were they not in that game ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Oh. Oh yes, I forgot. We embarrassed the nation's #1 ranked team - Ohio State 38-24, giving up a gift TD at the end.
And Georgia would have AUTOMATICALLY beaten us in Atlanta ??????????????????????????
As Scrooge told Cratchit "I'll retire to bedlam!"

for LSU, 1959 and 1969 should definitely be on the list.

So then we're not counting 1995 Florida?

UGA fans are out in force in a thread about best teams to never win a National Championship. Color me shocked

2012 Georgia had more talent than 2012 Bama on both sides of the ball aside from Offensive line.
2012 Bama just had a much better staff.

2012 UGA was loaded with NFL talent.
2004 AU team and 2001 UT team was loaded as well.

2003 Ole Miss was a fantastic team. not saying they could have won it all, but they defiantly had the chance

The '86 and '87 LSU teams were 3 close losses away from possible unbeaten seasons.
Ditto the '69 and '70 Tiger teams that lost a total of 3 winnable games in the waning seconds to Ole Miss, A&M, and Notre Dame.

I'll throw 1942 and 1946 in too.
1942 Ohio State was the AP while Georgia won virtualy every other poll.
Both had one loss, but Ohio State did not play in a bowl game
1946 Georgia was the only undefeated team left in college football. Both Notre Dame and Army had tied each other.

And? This is about the better "team" idiot, not who had the best players. I guess by your logic Duke is a much better basketball team than mercer this year just because duke has better players. Florida had more talent across the board than miami last year, we still lost. You struggle with logic don't you?
You're confused. We're not talking about two teams that played head-to-head and produced an observable result. We're speaking of a theoretical match up. When attempting to deduce the result of such a match up, one might take into consideration the talent of the players, considering that both teams were undefeated.
Being a Florida fan, I can see why you would take it so personally that Miami has what is widely considered to be the best team of all time.

Was gonna say Arkansas 1998 (the year Tenn won the BCS, and the hawgs scared the shite out of them), but then I googled it. Forgot they lost 3 of the last 4 games

Agreed, but the 2012 team was especially loaded.

They also beat Tennessee in the SECCG (the same team that stomped UGA) with a backup QB starting and a number of key players knocked out.
