And they needed an EXTREMELY fortunate play, I believe it was like a pick then a lateral or something crazy that was returned like 90 yards late in the 4th as VT was going in for a TD.

Nobody even came close to challenging nebraska. And even though their offense was clearly an unstoppable juggernaut, that defense was underrated as well. They held some very potent offenses in check.

I'd say 2012 Texas A&M, but they effectively share the title, so they don't really count.

You obviously don't understand why we played for the national title......

1) we won our division
2) we lost prettier than anybody

Of course I do, you got even luckier than '11 bama. YOu needed #1 and #2 to lose on teh last weekend (one of which lost to a sub-.500 team) and despite losing to a mediocre team in the last game of the year, and to a pretty bad eastern doormat, you were able to play in the SECCG against a team that was so lucky they needed a missed field goal by that same UK team to win in overtime.

That about covers it.

And that same team would have beat the dogshit out of you in Atlanta.

There isn't a team in the country that could have kept it within 14 of '07 UGA by the end of that season. USC is the only team I would have given a chance to do even that.

Other than them, 2002, 1981-82 for UGA would also qualify. 2012 might make a top 20 version of this list, but not close to top 10.

Kentucky wasn't that bad that year, and Arkansas had probably the third best running back in the history of the SEC.

Were they great losses? No, no loss is good, but they weren't that bad of losses. Just because the teams said Kentucky and Arkansas doesn't mean they were terrible though.

why is that funny?

starting after uga's loss the only game they had within single digit was vandy, the week after their loss. Troy (surprisingly) being the only game within 2 touchdowns. They shellacked Auburn and beat us and GT handily wihtout much trouble.

In that same time span, LSU lost to UK (that uga beat), hung on to beat a 6-7 bama team, barely beat auburn, beat up on 2 bad teams, and lost to an 8-5 arkansas team.

But yeah, of course LSU would win, this is an LSU baord afterall...

But the UGA fan saying they wouldn't beat the dogshit out of us isn't a homer right?

I've said multiple times on this board that I hate the fact that we didn't get to play UGA that year. There's absolutely no guarantee they would have beaten the dogshit out of us.

UGA had bad losses, same as LSU. We lucked out because the West was weaker that year.

LSU lost to UK (that uga beat)

Cool, we beat UT (who UGA failed to beat) and USCe (who UGA failed to beat.)

hung on to beat a 6-7 bama team

Same team that took UGA to overtime?

I've never seen a coach more credit for a 2 loss national title team who wasn't even the best team in its own conference than Miles. LSU fans were so desperate to fill that Saban void.
