Funny thing is that LSU has more of a claim to that championship than Bama does on around 10 of their self claimed championships

Well that's just not true.

A golden age on this forum. The cockiness of LSU fans going into that game was downright hilarious.

"You couldnt win at home. How are you gonna win in NOLA with a redshirt freshman QB?" It pretty much the de facto line before every Bama-LSU game

The only difference? Alabama's kickers (Jeremy Shelley in particular) made their field goals the second time around.

You also forgot that Tuscaloosa didn't have a casino for George Jefferson to hang out in all night.

Should've been a split title imo. If those teams played 10 times it would've been 5-5.

Not yet. We still need to play out the 2017 season to offset what happened between 1997 and 2007. If we have another solid season this year, THEN we'll be used to winning again.

Alabama was obviously the better team on that night.

That night - No question. But the OP said "that year". The beating that LSU put on ranked opponents including 5 on the road had some people talking about that team being the greatest in college football history.

I disagree. The game on 1/9 was closer to reality than the game on 11/5. That may sound like bias to you, but LSU's offense that year was ranked #86 in total yards while Alabama's was ranked #31. In both games we moved the ball more effectively than LSU did. Our drives in that first game were stopped inside the 30 on multiple occasions by pre-snap penalties.

LSU won in Bama's backyard, Bama won in LSU's neighborhood...needed a rematch of the rematch to be sure.

No. It was a pretty weak year for college football. They had a great defense, but the offense would eliminate them from being in that category.

Our coach was our biggest problem. Not real hard to defend 3 plays

Yes it does. If there was a third game played it could have gone either way.

If not for that event, it's very likely we don't have a playoff right now.

I bet you also told McDonald's that if they fired you, they wouldn't be able to function any more, didn't you?

The game was important as it showed that Bammer would always get their way as long as Emmert has Saban as his lapdog.

Yeah, but man that was clearly LSU's year

Alabama was like the SJW liberals pleading and protesting their case to get a 2nd chance

All I know is that Alabama's best win and loss were both better than OKSUs. They lost to a 6-6 team in the 11th game of the season and only played 12 just like Bama
