With Costello's record of getting tossed from the minors due to his poor officiating, he is the perfect candidate for the powers that be to influence. They say "Okay, Costello, we'll let you umpire these big games and keep you off of high school fields, but in return you're going to officiate the way we want you to. You do what we ask, and we'll take care of you."
Good umps with solid reputations will not risk their reputations on being influenced by outside sources. However, a guy like Costello who's bad at his job and with little job security would be much more prone to take a bribe/quid pro quo.

Now Dipshit Douglas is claiming the NCAA has directly contacted Lanny twice about potential harrassment of Costello. Oh lawd, those fricks are delusional.
This is a prime example of why Woopig always trolled noobs so hard in the past. Its simply a method of keeping the culls corralled on the retard reservation.

Yeah I watched all of the games and I remember this one well, the home plate ump was horrible.
