How about you stop crying about the ump and give credit to SC?

I credit USC for not swinging the bat and allowing the ump to give them the game. I would have wanted my team to do the same thing if we were getting those calls.

Posts all the ESPN strike zone screen shots all you want but it still means nothing.

Umpires don't have that in front of them and while there is supposed to be a standard strike zone for all umpires to use, anyone who watches baseball knows that each umpire has his own strike zone.. some of which are atrocious no doubt. But thats baseball. For the record. SC had 3 runs, Arky had 2. Get. Over. It.

USC's win was illegitimate and will forever be tainted. Get over that.

Ya'll should have done what Warren Morris did

Warren Morris would barely get the ball out of the infield by today's standards. you fricktards really know how to jack up a poignant topic.

Warren Morris took the game from Miami and didnt rely on the umps to "be fair" to decide the outcome. Again, if we all knew the ump strike zone was "unorthodox" then the players and coaches certainly shouls have and thus swing away and not leave the bat on the shoulder.....

Dont't lump all LSU fans in the rantard category, I personally agree Arky was screwed by the calls. Worst officiating in CWS history. Dude needs to be banned, aNd I personally wouldn't let him call balls or strikes in a Tee ball game.

this.

are Arkansas fans complaining? yes, and you can make fun of them for doing it

however they really did get screwed and the fans got screwed out of a good game but a shitty ump...and if that dude has already been removed from minor leagues for inconsistent strike zone, and then now he is still bad in college he needs to be sent to high school

awful

So far we have an emoticon, someone saying only a piece of the ball was in the strike zone therefore it can be called a ball ( ), and a meme.

Typical responses...

There was a terrible call in our game vs. Kent State on a ball that was called a strike. not many gators mentioned it even though it was a critical part of the game.

It wasnt a conspiracy it was just a shitty umpire

even Kendall Rogers, who is the most highly respected college baseball writer, said how awful and inconsistent the ump was

and he has no bias to either team

it was awful, arkansas fans have a right to be pissed about it IMO

ETA: not saying it is the reason the lost because they could have done things to overcome it, and they still might not have won this game had it been called fairly but it still sucks for them

One more thing to add to the record:

In game one of the 2010 super regional series between Arkansas and Arizona State, which was umped by Costello, Arizona State threw 3 walks and Arkansas threw 13 walks.

In the 2010 Tempe Super, we had a season high number of walks in the game he completely fricked us in. The announcers were going off and actually said "is the fix in?"

Last night, we had a season high number of walks as well. 10. And the tieing and go-ahead runs were walked in.

There's no coincidence. The guy either was fricking us on purpose or he is so incompetent that he has no business officiating NCAA baseball.

I got banned from hogville for 3 days for posting Costello's phone number and address, even though that information is publicly available from a simple google search. That site is so bush league.

Well, I won't stalk the guy. But seriously, NCAA...the guy has no business officiating DII games, let alone being behind the plate in a pivotal CWS game. If you want fans to take college baseball seriously, you need to take it seriously yourselves.

Ok, we lost the game - move on. No ones pay went up or down (besides bets). Yes, the ump sucked, should not ump even T ball anymore. We have to grow from it and next time take them by the throat and xxxx down it and take the ump out of the game.

Enjoy life.

Although I am a big LSU fan, I live in South Carolina and was pulling for them to win the game last night. About midway through the game I said to my husband, "wow, this ump is horrible and he seems to be favoring Carolina." Now, I wanted Carolina to win, but I must say Arkansas was royally screwed over. That was just unfair to both teams. It did look like a "fix" was in, and so it makes the victory tainted. Maybe the NCAA needs to hear from impartial fans so this guy is never allowed to work again. Even the Carolina fans around here were saying that was a "gift wrapped" victory. Really sad.

Unless he is in some mob gambling, he gets paid either way.

He gets paid double and then some being in on a betting scheme, which I seriously think should be investigated.

A unbiased person doesn't put in the performance the dickhead did in Tempe, then in game 1 and then again in game 3.

Costello is shady, no one is that incompetant and keeps their jobs and gets promoted. Well maybe SEC refs are the outlier.
