I mean Mett was a statue, I get that, but a FAR better passer than Hurts.
Their first year starter passing stats:
Mett:
207/352 @ 58.8 % for 2609 yards, 12 TDs and 7 INTs
Hurts:
240/382 @ 62.8 percent for 2780 yards, 23 TDs 9 INTs(Hurts played in two more games I think)
One was a true freshman, and one was a redshirt Junior.
One had a future NFL superstar to throw to, as well as another NFL WR1 at his disposal.
Ridley might prove to be a really good NFL WR, and Stewart has a lot of potential, but not really comparable to ODB and JL at the moment.

And Mett played in more NFL games than Hurts likely will (at QB anyway).
Says you?

i think that college football fans are a bit spoiled by having incredibly gifted athletes who come out of high school ready to play.
it would be very interesting and old school to see a kid with great, raw talent plus innate leadership ability actually given a full four years to develop and mature.

I think I will withhold judgment on his passing ability until midseason or so. He looked better in the first game than he did last year. So let's see what happens.

Actually, last year's first game vs USC is about the best he's ever looked, especially against what turned out to be a good team. In fact, I think it's some due to the fact he had a good first game that raised expectations for him and made it tough for him to live up to. Defenses learning his tendencies notwithstanding.

Hurts is a great athlete who has ZERO chance of playing QB in the NFL.
