What did Hurts do that was so spectacular that any other QB couldn't have done something similar to for Bama?

Anyway. It's like arguing with a child. Your gonna think your toys are better than everyone else's strictly because they are yours despite the fact that they are missing parts.

You mean the same elite FSU defense that gave up 63 points to Louisville last year with mostly the same players and coaches

He ran for 954 yards, 5.0 YPC and 13 TDs? Again, you can say he benefited from being on a loaded team (he did), but to act like he was just there and Kyle Shurmur or Danny Etling would have done the same things is typical #secrant overreaction, hot take behavior.

Wow, what a fantastic analogy. In this analogy are my toys the entirety of our football team? I assume so, since my guess is Jalen Hurts is the "missing part".

If so, I think my toys are better because they've proven to be better every year for half a decade now. Every toy reviewer, judge and little kid in America agrees.

How's that?

The 10/18 has been mentioned several times.

2/3 on the first drive which ended in a missed FG.

2/3 on the second drive which ended in a made FG.
2/2 on the 3rd drive which was the Ridley 53 yd TD pass.
0/2 on the 4th drive then a punt.
1/1 on the 4th drive then a punt.
1/2 on the 5th drive then a punt.

Half time

2/3 on the first drive then a punt.
Couple of drives after Turnovers with no passing.
1/2 on a drive that ended in a FG, and the score is now 21-7. After this it was pretty much running the rest of the way.

Most QBs don't get to sit back there before farting out a miss.

Take Alabama down the field down 4 with 2 minutes left in the national championship game against a team load with NFL talent

As a true freshman

That was a miscommunication. Something that happens frequently with true freshmen QBs. It was an area he clearly needed to improve on (like 99% of true freshmen QBs do).

Here is one of the few times he had no pressure and an open receiver down the field in game 1 of 2017

are you fricking stupid? Hurts accounted for 55% of the offense last year

No, I'm not stupid. I'm arguing with stupid people though, which, upon reflection, might be stupid.

Do you think Hurts accounted for 55% of the offense because he's so good or because 100% of the plays ran through him? I eagerly await your "intelligent" response.

Hurts is a very good athlete and a smart QB, but very average arm strength and that's being kind.

His legs worry me far more than his arm.

Whole lot of stupid in this thread and some pretty good points as well.

Lets compare;
att comp yds/att tds int yds/gm
True Freshman: 382 240 7.3 23 9 185.3
Junior 269 160 7.9 11 5 193

rushing: att yards tds
True Freshman 191 951 13
junior not listed in the top 50 in SEC.

Hmmm.

true freshman had a better completion % than the Junior and throw in another game against much better competition than Etling ever saw (except against Bama, right?)

I haven't seen one poster (not Alabama) that said they wanted hurts as the qb on the team they root for. even though they will admit he has talent and ability as a college qb.

that says it all.

Really? You don't think any team in the SEC would trade their QB for Jalen Hurts?

His arm strength is actually pretty good. Dude can sling it. You are probably trying to say that his accuracy needed some work, which is something that we should expect from a true freshman.

I know it isn't the hottest of takes but the idea that Hurts was pretty good as a true freshman with obvious rawness, has some improvements to make in accuracy and quickness of reads and was basically an incomplete game manager in Game 1 against FSU is............an acceptable analysis.

He doesn't have to be the Heisman frontrunner or the worst QB in the SEC.

Just kidding. That's pretty accurate. It just grates me that, at Bama, we're in the position of having to groom youngster on the field. I'm sure Hurts will get better. Is he better than last year this year? I'm not sure yet. We'll find out, I guess.

He had a guy running down the middle of the field and stared at him for 5 seconds before throwing a wobbler that fell way short. His receiver was on the outside and he throws it inside. The kid gets nervous in the pocket.

Yea, it's definitely the most open ended question on the team right now. And probably the most season defining one. Everywhere else (even LB, with the injury losses) I feel like I have a pretty good idea of where we will be by November. QB is a bit of a toss up.
