Can we wait till Hurts gets to play vs a non elite defense before we start judging how much he improved between his true frosh and sophomore seasons ?

His legs prevented 100 yards of sacks the other night. Literally. FSU defense is elite. Not sure their D is getting enough credit for their performance vs Bama.

Francois had a much more impressive pass chart, but he also turned the ball over a few times, and Hurts did not... it was the difference in the game.

CNS is not going to lose the turnover battle in a game like that by cutting his QB loose. Protect the ball and play defense like savages - this is his formula, and I'd say its been a fairly successful formula.

Hurts and Bama have just now come through a stretch where they have faced four elite defenses in a row for high stakes. That has to be taken into consideration.

Word from non bammer analysts over the off-season was Hurts had greatly improved.

Once he gets a clean pocket to stand in lets see how he reads the field, and whether or not he gets the ball where it needs to go. Then we will know what sort of progress there has been.

Anyone that saw the touch on his passes the other night when he had time to set his feet could plainly see he has progressed so my money is on Hurts proving his doubters wrong.

Do I need to pull out Danny Etling's stats against the last really good defense that relentlessly pressured him?

11/24 (46%), 92 yards, 0 TD/1 INT, 69.7 Passer Rating

Most of those retarded frickers think he's going first round. He will never sniff an NFL field in a real NFL game. He MIGHT make some teams practice squad AT BEST.

Like it or not, he will be judged on how well he plays vs good defenses.

Yes he was. And yes he did. That doesnt make him a passer or ready to go early in the draft.

And McCarron was the ONLY one that could hit his target worth a shite.

On 18 throws, 3 of which were throw aways. 1 was an on the money sideline throw that Ridley got knocked out of bounds mid-air. 1 was a throw to the corner of the end zone that a freshman WR dropped.

So, 10/15 with 2 of those drops.

Again, he wasn't great, but this overreaction after 1 week against an elite secondary while running for his life in a game in which we shut down the passing game in the 4th quarter is............silliness.

Have no clue what that has to do with the theory that Alabama doesn't throw the football.

A bammer calling someone else a psycho? Thanks for the laugh.

Meanwhile a person can pick up a newspaper or turn on a tv and see your fan base killing people or commiting some other act of insanity over football on the reg.

Sorry if it hurts your feelings, but the bammers quarterback both looks and throws like a girl

Right now I think the criticism is unwarranted. I think Hurts was 10/18 Saturday. Out of those incompletions, Ridley was purposely held on a pass (probably would've been a TD)and the freshman WR Ruggs dropped a potential 24 yard TD pass. Also on a 20 yard pass Ridley wasn't able to plant his feet in bounds.
and 3 of his completions were throw away to avoid a sack

Jalen Hurts Film Review - SDS

quote:

The Seminoles defense is littered with NFL prospects, including three projected first-round picks according to CBS Sports’ most recent mock draft — S Derwin James, CB Tarvarus McFadden and DT Derrick Nnadi. True sophomore edge rusher Brian Burns will almost certainly be a future first-rounder as well.

quote:

Passing stats: 10/18 (55.6%), 96 yards passing, 1 touchdown

Rushing stats: 15 carries, 55 yards

quote:

The stats say that Hurts had 8 incomplete passes, but consider:

- 3 were throwaways
- 1 was a sideline pass where the DB prevented Ridley from getting his feet down (18 yards)
- 1 was a dropped pass by Ruggs in the corner of the end zone (24 yards)

quote:

The throwaways have absolutely nothing to do with Hurts’ accuracy, and both of the other two were well-thrown balls. In addition, there’s the play that got called back (13 yards) for a holding call on Lester Cotton — which wasn’t holding, by the way.

Not counting the throwaways, Hurts easily could’ve been 13 of 16 (81.3 percent) with 151 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. If you include the throwaways in this scenario, he would’ve still completed 68.4 percent of his passes.

To put it simply, accuracy was not an issue, at all.

quote:

Ridley was targeted 11 times by Hurts against the Seminoles, bringing in seven of those. The rest of the team saw a combined five targets with three receptions — although, one of those receptions Hurts delivered to himself.

Like with the argument regarding the accuracy, if the plays by Ruggs (drop) and Jeudy (negated by penalty) happen, then that’s 41.6 percent of Hurts completions to someone other than Ridley — compared to the 30 percent that ended up on the stat sheet.

Offenses are typically going to feed their best weapon when defenses allow it, and that’s exactly what Alabama did in this game. Hurts did, however, look to other options in this game — even if the stats don’t show it.

And prevented another 100 yards of sacks with his legs while running for his life the entire game.

FSU would have ate Etling alive.

Too bad we will never know. LSU really doesn't play elite D's other than once a year vs Bama. When that happens LSU QB's historically look like shite so...

Once LSU wins a SEC title, makes the playoffs, plays 4 or 5 elite D's in a row, and Etling rips through them all like an elite QB then lets talk about how much better he is than Hurts.

Yeah there would t be any bias reasons for that I'm sure.

They went to the championship. He was a freshmen. The committee didn't have anyone else to give it to with a better "resume". Problem with this is, Hurts had little to nothing to do with getting Bama to the championship. (Here comes all the Gumpers to talk about how I'm so wrong on this) but the fact is, you could have put any QB from the SEC last year (Etling included) and Bama would have still made the championship game. Hurts did not make that team last year what it was.

Stat line against LSU last year similar to FSU last week:

C/ATT YDS TD INT QBR
J. Hurts 10/19 107 0 1 62.8

8 of those were probably screens.

what's your point? In 2015 sophomore deshaun Watson threw for 84 yards, 10 for 21 against Notre Dame. Guess that guy will never go anywhere
