Well in Oregon's defense those two teams they played went 16-0 in SEC play. They were two pretty f*cking good teams.

Precisely why Oregon doesn't get the respect Herbstreit says they deserve.

I guess Oregon should get to play an elite SEC team at the end of every season to give them a shot at earning that respect. They'll win once and forever proclaim themselves the greatest team in the history of ever.

They don't. People assume this is the same old smoke and mirrors Oregon. They may be the best team in the country this year.

Think Texas A&M offense (With a QB just as good) combined with a much better defense.

If they haven't proven that they can beat the best of the best (which they haven't), how much respect do they really deserve?

yeah 18-0 if the SEC CCG counts as part of the SEC schedule (which it does IMO)

and that Auburn game especially was obviously a close game

I don't think that's fair. It might have been a somewhat dumb statement (if I were an Alabama fan I wouldn't worry about how badly UT stinks), but that guy is about the best there is, in my opinion. If not him, then who?

As an in-game commentator, Todd Blackledge, Charles Davis, Gary Danielson.

As a studio talking head, Joel Klatt.

Herbstreit: I’m telling you, the fan in me wants to see Oregon get a chance in the big game against an SEC powerhouse like Alabama or LSU in the national championship.

They did and the score was 22-19.

LSU put what? 40 on them? Allowed 20 something? I don't get it, how many chances are they supposed to get to prove themselves?

Of the SEC fans piling on Herbie re: Oregon, the percentages probably break out like this, based on SEC Rant posting behaviors:

Alabama -- 15%
Auburn -- 10%
LSU -- 55%
Ole Miss -- 2%
MSU -- 0%
A&M -- 3%
Arky -- 7%
UGA -- 4%
USCe -- 2%
UF -- 4%
Tenn -- 0%
Vandy -- 0%
'Tucky -- 0%
Missouri -- 0%

They'll get all the chances they need until they finally win and then proclaim themselves an instant dynasty.

Before they continue to get multiple chances against LSU and Alabama, let's make sure they can consistently beat the SEC-like team in their own conference.

I actually like Kirk. One of the better personalities on TV, imo.

He gets a little more ESPNish every year though. That's not a good thing.

Kirk is probably the best commentator on ESPN. I also agree with him. This year, Oregon would definitely win 10+ games in the SEC.
