UGa-UF bias aside, a campus that looks no different than Kennesaw State's in Marietta.

Kind of hard to believe there's no bias with that comparison.

Yes, but Nashville also has other things, so that tie is broken pretty decisively.

Fayetteville is morphing into a medium-sized metro, but it is still its own distinct town. The county to the north has more people, is growing faster, etc. Fayetteville is on the southern end of the entire metropolitan area. The only reason it is still called the "Fayetteville metro" by fedgov is because in spite of all of the metro growth, Fayetteville is still the largest town by population in the metro (barely).

The dislike/rivalry between the different towns in Ozarkopolis is also really interesting. I'm trying to think of other areas that might have something similar. Maybe the different feelings about the different burroughs in NYC. So we're simultaneously merging into a single area while maintaining very, very distinct city governments, investors, politicians and the like. I'm sure there are analagous areas, but I find it pretty interesting and unique.

Didn't read a single one, but wanted to stop in and say even for an off-season thread, this sucks.

Benton County is new money.

Washington County is a mix of collegetown liberal/Springdale multicultural/bible thumper.

I don't have any enmity in my heart for Benton County. I just rarely have any real reason to go there. The courthouse in Bentonville and Crystal Bridges are the only places that have drawn me north of the county line in a few months. When I am up there, I do usually manage to eat at a place that we don't have down here. Flying Fish, Chuy's, PF Chang's, Ruth's Chris.

Damn, now that I've started listing restaurants, I'm starting to hate Benton County a little.

You should ban yourself immediately for linking something that actually ranks Manhattan, KS above Athens, GA.

No worries. Most on here would do the same.

I just thought that part was humorous because Manhattan is in the middle of nowhere and not in the same league as Athens.

I'd probably give College Station the nod as well. But you are absolutely correct. Capital cities in a state and cities of over 150K are not college towns.

Oh, that doesn't even scratch the surface of the awesomeness in Bentonville culinary scene. Oven and Tap, Tavola, Pedaler's Pub, Foxhole, Tusk and Trotter, the Hive, Eleven, Pressroom, the Station...

And that's just going to get better because Ropeswing and the Walton boys are throwing their money around like crazy to anyone willing to help in the culinary scene. Then they're also building that culinary training facility that's going to have brewmaster training as well. I still prefer Fayetteville's authentic, organic character, but they're creating the field of dreams up in Bentonville.

Fayetteville barely eclipses 80,000. Very much a college town. My suburb was twice as big as this place. The metro is rather big, but it's just small town, after small town, after small town. Fayetteville only has 3 10 story+ buildings. Several "smaller" SEC schools have much more.
