Sometimes I say shite, and to me it sounds like a neutral stance at the time, and then I re-read it after it's been posted and blasted by the other team, and I'm like "frick me, now I have to defend this shite, even though I was partially trying to agree with them." By sometimes, I mean a lot. I need to proofread.

Fairly ridiculous statement for a team that might go 6-6 and go to the Birmingham Bowl. No way MSU beats Alabama, LSU, Auburn, A&M or Ole Miss

Which is it, a 6-6 season or playing for an SEC West Championship?

Assuming msu got to 11-1, their shitty OOC schedule would likely keep them out if the playoff... depending on what other teams did.

State will let us down as far as the Egg Bowl for the West scenario goes. Just like they let us down for the Egg Bowl Super Regional.

Key games in Egg Bowl Apocalypse:
MSU at LSU
Auburn at MSU
MSU at Bama
Ole Miss at LSU
Auburn at Ole Miss
Alabama at Ole Miss
if one team wins 2 of 3 in the above groups and the other wins one of 3, Egg Bowl could very well be for SEC West Championship.
Wouldn't both teams have to win 2 of the three? With both most likely needing to beat Bama? Ole Miss will beat LSU, definitely can beat Auburn, but I don't see us beating Bama if Coker is an average QB. Their RB group is too deep and our LBs are too small and thin to keep both the run and pass game in check.

I'm a Mississippi State fan. The OP was full of sarcasm.
I think MSU and Ole Miss will both finish in the top three in the West. Might be 2-3 behind Alabama, might be 1-3 Alabama sandwich, or it might be 1-2.
Auburn 2014 = MSU 2000. Better than the year before, but without the miracle wins.

I still can't decide if I'm happy or sad that didn't happen. I guess I'm glad at this point, but it would have been 10x more awesome if we beat them in the Supers to go to Omaha, but 894709487123879347892374x more depressing if they had have kept us from going to Omaha.

If one team is 6-1 and one team is 5-2 headed in, the 5-2 team could possibly win the West on a three way tiebreaker.
Say Alabama is 6-2 with losses to Ole Miss and Tennessee.
Ole Miss is 5-2 with losses to Auburn and LSU. (won 1 of 3 listed)
State is 6-1 with loss to Bama (won 2 of 3 listed)
An Ole Miss win makes all three 6-2 with Ole Miss beating both Bama and State.

I think 9 is very possible. I think they win their home games - including Auburn.
10 would mean beating Ole Miss, LSU or Bama on the road. All tough. 11 would mean winning two of those and if they got to 11, they probably deserve a playoff bid despite their pedigree as a cellar dweller.
quote:Yah, that's the kicker. They in the SEC W plus those on the road. Win 10 with that, deserve to be in the playoff discussion, even if just as a sign of respect.
They have at LSU at Bama at Ole Miss

Gotcha. Figured there was a scenario, just didn't want to think it out.
Let's just make it easy and both be 11-0 going into it. If that happened, I think I would be okay win or lose.

What "best" RB was out in that game?

I think it's hilarious that there is an actual, serious conversation going on in this thread that the Egg Bowl could decide the West. At least it's entertaining.

Revisionist history, engle.
I had a Florida fan tell me that our 2000 raping of Spurrier in Starkville was because their 3rd string QB was playing. Their 3rd string QB was playing because we shite down their 1st and 2nd string QB.
I have little doubt that for a two week period in late September, early October, 2000, Mississippi State was the best team in the nation. That was the most surreal two weeks in MSU football history. Skulldrug Florida then held Rudi Johnson to 18 yards and Auburn without a first down for nearly three quarters.
Couldn't take care of business down the stretch and watched those two teams play in Atlanta. If I'm not mistaken, that's the only time in SEC history that a team beat both SEC Championship participants in the regular season.

LOL @ SOS actually being used against a team in the SEC West that plays Bama, LSU, and OM on the road...
The only way we'd almost certainly get left out in that scenario would be losing the SEC Championship game. An 11-1 team that isn't in the game(behind, say, an undefeated Bama) still would have an excellent chance of the playoffs.
Especially with the Prescott factor in that scenario virtually guaranteeing he'd be in New York as a household name. MSU on that level would be a Cinderella story that people would want to ride until the very end...
