Thanks. Although our defense probably wasn't as good as it ma have looked due to teams not needing to score much to beat Tennessee, I don't see the 2012 team being much worse than 7 unless the new DC completely changes things.
Like switching to a 3-4?

It probably won't be a full switch unless Dooley really believe the 3-4 gives the team the best chance to win this year.

state's d will be stout next year. We're losing one safety but all of our starting secondary will be very experienced. We are losing a D-linemen to the NFL and bringing in a five star and juco all american on the d line. Linebackers losing a mostly backup who sucked. How are we at the bottom? They should be better than the previous two years of top 25 scoring defense. What gives?

Our linebackers are talented enough...well I guess 3 of them are. I'm more worried about our horrible corners

Some info on Mizzous D...
Return an all-conf de in Brad Madison. DE is one of the deepest groups on the team. The new starter (sam, burnett, ealy) will have had plenty of experience already. At dt, Sheldon Richardson returns after have 7.5 tfl last yr as a reserve, he is a former 5* recruit. The LB corps is very deep with lots of experience. All 3 starters will be in their 3rd year starting. Mizzou only loses their 3rd cb and starting ss from the secondary. Lots of experience returning here too.

I agree Bama's D will be the best in 2012. It won't be as good as 2011 but it won't fall off that much either. We're losing some great players, but it's not like the guys replacing them don't have plenty of significant experience.

even with a modest drop off it will probably seem to the eye that they are getting abused just by constant comparison to 2011. LSU's D was magnificent this year and allowed about 70 yards more per game than Bama's. They'll still be an elite unit in the country but they won't be that again for a LONG, LONG time.

We were third in the conference this year and return 10 starters. Bama will be good but they lose a ton. We will be a top 2 defense in the SEC this year. There really isn't any reason to think otherwise.

To say your D will absolutely be better than LSUs and Bamas is a bit premature.
LSU lined up and ran it down yalls throat in the second half of the SECCG game.

Alabama lost more after the 2009 season and still led the SEC in defense and was top five in the country.
