The BCS was not an undisputed title. Not even close.

And again I agree that Bama's run is superior to USC's.

Uh, yeah it is, unless you think the playoff isn't undisputed either.

Everyone in the country agreed to abide by the BCS system wherein #1 and #2 at the end of the season woudl play each other for the national title. That was the rules. There were many ingredients to make the BCS pie (coaches poll, AP poll, a series of computer formulas) but the end result was matchign 1 vs 2. The AP made up 33% of the BCS formula (even less if you assign a consistent value to each of the computers).

USC won 1 national title, and it was in 2004.

you waited 3 and a half years for this?

Honestly, what was it about this thread that made you take the plunge?

Not sure. I'll think about it and let you know in 2019.

In the years since Malzahn has gotten to Auburn they have tested Bama in certain ways. This years game was even close into the 4th quarter when Auburn had no business being in it. So to a degree Saban does have some problems with Malzahn, but he still gets the job done most of the time

And conventional wisdom says 'No QB' should lead to problems. It has for Saban's teams as well, but oftentimes their overall talent advantage still wins them the day

The BCS has exactly zero credibility at this point. Zero.

The fact that 2 games that Alabama won by 11 pts and 16 pts are considered some sort of evidence as a problem with another team/coach is just a testament to Saban's dominance.

Yeahhh... Russell Wilson > Daunte Culpepper. Had Saban gotten his way and the team docs approved of Brees, we could very well be talking about Saban being a great NFL coach.
Carrol walked into a team that only had a few missing pieces for success. The Dolphins organization is a mess.

Why, because it's not around anymore? It's the system that was used from 98-13, so those matter.

By your logic, the AP stopped mattering (even less than they previously did) completely in 2004 since they pulled out of the BCS formula. Would you agree?

Yea, that is really silly. SBNation did a series on every BCS year and basically found that there were only 2-3 years in which a playoff would have added a worthy 3rd or 4th team. Almost every year there were a clear #1 and/or #2 team.

It wasn't perfect, but it almost always crowned the correct champion.

Exactly. The BCS was just as mythical as the AP. Thankfully, we have a playoff now.

Our dynasty has 4 NC's compared to 1.5

Of course we are missing Snoop Dogg and NCAA sanctions. We'll live.

It was a hell of a lot better than the poll system and it basically got it right.

Things dumb people say.

When the playoff expands to 6 or 8 teams, morons will say "Playoffs with just 4 teams were bogus blah blah blah"

The BCS WAS a playoff, it was just a 2 team playoff, that's what a bunch of 'tards fail to understand.

Of course, all BCS titles are valid. No doubt. But the BCS system has no credibility at this point.

By dismissing USC's 2003 AP title, you're defending the BCS system that was terribly flawed.

I love how everyone wants to talk about "bama bust" but only 2 of these guys (Palomalu and Matthews) came close to living up to the hype.

What does producing NFL caliber QBs have to do with being a dynasty in retrospect?
