I agree with the notion that if you've never played a down of football you shouldnt be able to choose the teams in the playoffs.

Been happening for years (well, not "playoffs" but the BCSCG).

Disagree. Doubt they keep up much with teams during the season.

What do people think Rice is going to do? "OOOEMMMGEEE I SO TOTALLY LOVE UCLAS COLORS!!! PICK THEM!! PICK THEM!!"

No they think the equivalent of a College Gameday guest picker will have an actual say on the playoff for absolutely no reason.

Bottom line, committee is shite unless you put the GOAT, PMFD on it.

And I am extremely confident Dye will show no bias towards AU as well.

Pat Dye's actions and decisions would not be questioned and would be considered beyond reproach IMO. Unlike Rice.

Isn't that the case with most fans? Not saying experience isn't valuable but how many guys who played know anything besides the position they played? Most ex-players don't go on to be coaches on any level. You can study any game and become an expert if thats what you want to do. How many guys who actually played pro basketball know more about pro basketball than Jeff Van Gundy? Nick Saban apparently wasn't good enough to play football at Bama or LSU; how many guys who've played (or Coached) at either school know more about football than him?

The lady was Secretary of State and National Security Advisor. She literally made life or death decisions for a living. Anyone who thinks she can't accurately pick the four top teams in the country is an idiot. Most years the top four is even up for debate.

There are so many people in so many different facets of life whose professional experience isn't necessarily in line with posts they are appointed to, and they do extremely well. And there are so many people who have extensive experience in a field and end up being terrible in the posts they were appointed to.

If she has the capacity to be fair minded, if she can understand and critically analyze the issues, and if she can learn the things that she doesn't necessarily know right now, I don't see why she isn't as qualified as anyone else.

So if you played high school football you all of a sudden have this great understanding of college football that no one else could ever have because they didn't play?

Exactly, Dye and NYCAuburn are being retarded or trolling at this point.

Kelly played at New Hampshire.

Paul Johnson, David Cutcliffe, George O'Leary, Bobby Hauck, and Charlie Weis, and Mike Leach didn't play college ball.

That is so stupid. To be on this committee, they are not going to be calling plays and trying to win a game. there are other people on the committee that have never played and never coached, but because they are men, he had no compliants about them?
Pat Dye, Lou Holt, or Steve Spurrier(after he retires) could never be on this committee because they are too bias for their previous teams.
Dye is just of the old school and sees women as someone that should be a cheerleader or in the band, and not actually someone that knows football. We have women here at work that know a lot more than some of the men here about football.
They truly love the game, and they watch a lot of games each week-end.
Pat really should have kept his mouth shut on this one, because it doesn't look good for him.

If that's the case lets leave the picking up to the Rant. Every dumbarse on here played junior high or high school ball. Thats why, when we post, we think we know what the hell we're talking about. But for some reason, most people's posts make no sense to the rest of the Board.
