I don't have anything against women or anyone who didn't play on the playoff committee. However, Condi has no experience in an athletic office at all. She really is "just a fan". A very smart and powerful fan, but a fan nonetheless. I think she'll do fine though. Not sure what everyone's worried about. Do you guys really think she's going to pick some 7-6 team over 11-1 team? Give me a break. 80% of the time the picks are just going to be common sense

Having sports writers, the vast majority of whom never played, is fine though?

Neither should active AD's of BCS conference teams. But it's what it is. And this is what everyone wanted after 2011 when it was clear the best 2 teams were selected that year. It's like that old saying, don't wish too hard, because you just might get what you're wishing for.

If Pat is upset, the correct response is for everyone to be upset.

This part is pretty much correct:

quote:

"All she knows about football is what somebody told her," Dye said. "Or what she read in a book, or what she saw on television.

This part is not:

quote:

To understand football, you've got to play with your hand in the dirt.

This is like the old adage that former coaches make better ADs. It should be evaluated on an individual basis.

Shows how much Pat Dye knows about anything outside of Auburn..

ETA: From what I've read most of the staff at the White House are hard core sports fans

This doesn't make what Pat said untrue. In fact it supports what he said.

I for one would rather have fans picking playoff teams than coaches. Everyone has bias, but at least fans will watch all of the games unlike your typical coach.

The only time Pat is upset is when the bourbon bottle or box of #7 shells is empty while popping quails.

Denard fricking Robinson got on the cover of NCAA 14 after being benched and having to change positions because he sucked so bad during the season. Fan voting is nothing more than a numbers game

I agree with the notion that if you've never played a down of football you shouldnt be able to choose the teams in the playoffs.

Not a hard concept to grasp
