look forward to seeing all the 5th year SEC grad. students coming to Bama in the years to come. You asked for it (with your faux giving-a-shite about the student-athlete attitudes), now you will see Bama take great players from teams that don't have a chance to win.
Yes,because the SEC is just flooded with FB grad students just chomping at the bit to transfer.
Good Lord,you guys are delusional.
OK,so in every other P5 conference grad students are allowed to transfer but somehow it hasn't become some type of floodgate or free for all but you guys are comvinced that this is gonna open up the gates of Hell and of course Bama will capitalize from this unholy idea.

Aj Turman never said he wanted to go to Miami, and had not graduated.
Who the hell downvoted a true statement a fact. You don't like the the truth.
It's one thing to downvote an opinion, but a factual statement of what happened?
That's a little ridiculous.
Kirby only put it out that he wouldn't allow transfers to Miami to keep current underclass men schollys from bolting to MR, so they would give him a chance. But Turman was never interested in Miami and vice versa. KS was just setting a precedent. Personally I think it really shouldn't matter and if a kid wants to transfer then that's fine, he'll sit a year if he's not graduated or play immeadiately if he has. I think KS will allow players to transfer to Miami once the MR cycle at UGA is through.
The Sabonites at Bama are just wanting to once again promote that NS is the only one who has correct opinions on college football. He's the best coach clearly , but that doesn't make him right on everything. He's opinions are Eley based on what's best for Alabama football, which is fine, that doesn't mean it's best for all of college football.
The truth is most players that have graduated , should be starting by now, if they aren't then they won't in their current situation or they are in a battle with an underclassman they think they'll lose. So if your the original school why do you care? Your coaches clearly think they have someone better, and the player who's just trying to get more looks to get to the league just is trying to take his best shot one last year. I mean we are probably talking about a player that might be drafted in the 7th or go undrafted.
The only case I can think of a grad student that really hurt a team , was Russel Wilson going from NC State to Wisky. But that could have been fixed if Obrein had not been such a jerk about it.
My take on MS to UGA is , no one on here thinks UGA will win the East, so why do you care. It's not like you'll have to play him. I would think you would have been more worried about him going to UT, FSU, OM, OU, CU, or tOSU/ M. To read the posts on the dawgs it won't matter , so why do you care?

Since some people think that this won't set a bad precedent then why restrict transfer students in the first place.
Dude. You need to step away from the ledge. The SEC is the only conference that DOES restrict graduate student transfers. Think about that. the ONLY conference on nay level that restricts graduate student transfers. Do you see anarchy and mayhem all over the nation?
And you know this one instance doesn't change anything, right? the rue is still in place. Saban gave Smith the waiver. Saban did not have to do that.
It was HIS choice. The only thing that has changed is that Mo Smith is now allowed to go to UGA.

It could be but don't tell half of the guys in this thread that, apparently to them Maurice was essential to our defense and Saban is a tyrant for restricting him from leaving.
Why? Please explain to me why this is so bad for the SEC? Kids are given waivers and exceptions to rules all the time. A kid gets injured and is given an extra year for a medical waiver. Why is this the apocalypse?

So tell me. How many do you anticipate a year? I mean, you have to undersign and have a scholarship available. You going to back off recruiting a Derrick Henry or Bo Scarborough so you can sign a graduate student to "show everybody"? Dude, you can sign graduate students RIGHT now! Why all of a sudden is Alabama going to go out and sign "all the 5th year grad students"?
Message to ALL Bama fans:
STEP AWAY FROM THE LEDGE! NOTHING HAS CHANGED!
The rule remains intact. Let me ask you a question. How many kids does Alabama have on scholarship right now? 84? Ok. Go fine ONE graduate student. You can sign him. Be our guest.
You guys need to stop melting. You are embarrassing yourselves.

The rule is still in place. This was ONE waiver. Without Saban giving his blessing Mo Smith would not be at Georgia.

So was he the reason the SEC put in the rule? Which they have just waived and may as well abolish.

He was waived, if that answer's your question.

Dude. The SEC didn't waive any rules. Saban gave Maurice Smith a waiver saying he could go to a SEC school. All the SEC did was say it was ok.
If you are mad, then blame Saban for giving the waiver.
If Saban had not given the waiver, there would have been nothing the SEC could have done.
