Didn't some want to go with Richt but Kirby wouldn't release them?

How many graduate students could each school really have. The ones who are headed to the league usually are gone after 3 years playing time.

I don't know it's gonna be that big a deal. The rest of college football has allowed it for awhile now , even transferring into SEC. You only hear about a couple of transfer a year.

No, the SEC said Smith can go wherever the frick he wants, so Saban can get over it or EAD.

Quit changing your narrative.

You said ANYONE who graduates can do it - I pointed out the flaw in that statement.

Smith was granted a WAIVER. That means he needed special permission to do it - he couldn't just "go wherever he wants because he already graduated".

They were not graduates. They were undergraduates. But we did have a couple of those...Turman (RB) and seems like a WR talked about going but decided to stay.

Exactly. very few football players are going to graduate in three years. It's just so tough with the study and workload.

And if they are starting for their current school, they will stay at that school, more than likely. The only reason we got Greyson Lambert was because he had lost his starting spot. People are blowing this way out of proportion.

Was Trevor Knight a graduate transfer, maybe? probably the most high profile....but, once again....the reason he transferred is because he lost his job.

Since so many people in the media and around the country have a problem with the graduate transfer rule, just abolish the rule in general, hell let all students transfer whether they graduated or not to any school they want to. Since some people think that this won't set a bad precedent then why restrict transfer students in the first place.

This could be bad for the SEC moving forward.

It could be but don't tell half of the guys in this thread that, apparently to them Maurice was essential to our defense and Saban is a tyrant for restricting him from leaving.

AJ Turman never said he wanted to go to Miami, and he was not a graduate.

1). The player will have to graduate.
2). The player will have to have remaining eligibility.
3). The player will have to be good enough for the other program to want him for 1 year, over a new recruit for 4-5, or a JUCO transfer for 2-4.

To get a Russell Wilson for 1 year is worth it.

QB may be the best position to look at for this type of thing. Kid redshirts, comes in with AP classes, graduates early, finishes #2 out of spring.

Do you stay or play?

Make it play by play even. You could play QB for AU and Bama in the Iron Bowl.

This is so funny. Got this thread up on the page count and the only people changing the narrative on this kid is the cumulative Bammer fan base.

From the first page; he wasn't a starter, then he would play 60% of the snaps, to a kid that was 'thought' to be a valuable player but coaches haven't confirmed it yet, to now a productive member on the Bammer, err, UGA football team.

You guys are nuckin futz; he dissed you, Bruh. Let it go. Move on to the next chick.

Deal with it 'Bama.

It's now Kirby's world. If he doesn't want Turman to transfer to Miami - frick Turman - you ain't goin' to Miami. Deal with it.

If he wants M. Smith at Georgia - frick Saban, frick 'Bama, and frick the SEC "rules." Smith is coming to Georgia. Period.

Because Kirby says so.

Welcome to the new reality Tide.

I look forward to seeing all the 5th year SEC grad. students coming to Bama in the years to come. You asked for it (with your faux giving-a-shite about the student-athlete attitudes), now you will see Bama take great players from teams that don't have a chance to win.

Saban doesn't play.

So, some of the teams (who may have one or two great players) that have a slim to zero chance of winning a championship in any given year - expect some players to head Bama's way now. And when you start whining and crying about it, many of us will just laugh out asses off.

Like I stated. Saban doesn't play. He wins.

Says the two year old throwing a tantrum.

Listen - grow up and deal with it. Saban looked bad on this one. He played it wrong and ended up looking small.

Get used to it.
