So unless one team is trying to lose a game, every game ever played is a rivalry?
Didn't you see what I did there?

We use the word rivalry like the government uses the word terrorism. Just redefine that shite so that it fits our latest and greatest idea.
All I did was post the DEFINITION of a "rivalry".

merriam-webstered...that's the basis for any great rivalry.
If you have a problem with the actual definition of "rivalry", why not take it up with Merriam-Webster?

So you're saying that LSU has a rivalry with every SEC team then? And moreover, every D1 college football team?
Jesus people, what's so fricking hard to understand?
What, did you ALL go to Louisiana public schools or some shite?
I'm not saying shite, I only posted what the literal meaning of "rivalry" is.
If you don't like the actual definition, then make up one to suit yourself.

From what I've seen, it has had the most "This game is really important" years than any other rivalry game during that time span. Both teams seem to take it really seriously and they are both typically spent the week after making them vulnerable to defeat.
Very intense.
Very intense.

Why are you using Websters dictionary to define a college rivalry?
This isn't 1600 Europe and we aren't competing for the hand of a woman.
College rivalry
Pairs of schools, colleges and universities, especially when they are close to each other either geographically or in their areas of specialization, often establish a college rivalry with each other over the years. This rivalry can extend to both academics and athletics, the latter being typically more well known to the general public. These schools place an added emphasis on emerging victorious in any event that includes their rival. This may include the creation of a special trophy or other commemoration of the event.

Too many people are focusing on the OP's use of the term "rivalry". I think what he was getting at was that there is no other annual match-up that has been as intense as this one over the last 10 years.
The only other suggestion by a commenter was Georgia/Florida, which is also very intense.
Some others that come to mind when thinking of "intense" and "consequential" match-ups over the last 10 years:
- Oregon v USC - at least as of the last few years
- Georgia v Florida - stated above
- Texas v Oklahoma - maybe?
- Who else?
Edit - Grammar

Goes way back before that chief.
The entire SEC rant owes its existence to bama fans signing up on TD.com so they could flame LSU
