but will the UGA money offer it up?

i think after goff, donnan, and now richt and seeing UF, AU, Bama, and LSU just scream by us after it looked like we were on the same level or even ahead that the boosters are restless.

you can't be a big 6 school and spend as much as the other peasant SECers

When did someone do that?

I could easily be 100% wrong, but what I took from your post was that you took offense to me saying we want nothing to do with Kirby. Which I guess could have been taken as a slight at alabama. I don't really know, you just seemed to think it was impossible that we don't want him, when in reality we don't.

quote:

Ya you might, but its not like you're gonna have the power to go out and make a Saban level hire.

You're right, because Saban is the best coach in the country. We're not going to get Gruden or Harbaugh in here. But we might as damn well try to get the best coach we can. It would be utterly stupid not to try. And for the record, UGA is a better job than UT. When you sit down and look at what a COACH (not as a fan, a potential coach) wants in a job UGA absolutely has more to offer than UT does.

quote:

He absolutely will be, whether UGA fans are done being butthurt about him not coming last year, or not.

My goodness. This isn't about the fans dude. It's about our administration, our front office, our boosters, people who actually matter. We don't want Kirby, we aren't going to offer Kirby, and I don't know how many more times it needs to be said. Kirby Smart will not be Georgia's next head coach, period.

UGA can do and can afford much more than CKS...and for that, I hope he is hired.

Maybe (Im not sure you can, not that you couldn't hire a bigger name) but you know he would come in a put together a phenomenal staff, and they would lock down Georgia like no other coach could in recruiting.

Who is the next coach in your opinion?

I hope Foley is providing McGarity with some "free" advice.

there is way more to coaching than just locking down georgia

i think the university targets 4 guys, 2 reaches and 2 more likely

1a) Chris Petersen
1b) Gary Patterson

if throwing the world at them fails then

2a) Charlie Strong
2b) Dan Mullen

if those fail then frick

Yeah, just hire Trooper Taylor if that's your goal.

So you just said that could hire a bigger name.

How the hell do we know that? He's never been a head coach. We have absolutely no idea how Kirby Smart can put a staff together or anything at all about his head coaching abilities.

With as bad as we are and good as bama is, we still signed the #4 class last year with mostly in state kids. Pretty much any staff with new blood that comes in here should/will be able to recruit Georgia just fine.

Strong would seem to be a better hire for UGA then Mullen. Wouldnt have to retool the O, and he would bring in a strong D.

Peterson - don't think he leaves Boise.
Patterson - I have no idea.
Strong - not sure if he's ready for the SEC as a HC but he would be a deadly recruiter.
Mullins - yes please

Oh no, another thread about Mullen leaving at the end of the year.

For a guy who can't recruit, is cocky, and none of his players like him, he sure is wanted by many.
