The thing people forget is Les is 62 he isn't going to coach forever. I didn't see him being at LSU past his existing contract.

Most of the fan base may disagree with me, but the best possible scenario for us going forward is to keep miles, and make other changes.

Steele is a proven failure as DC. He needs to be demoted to LB coach, and we need to hire a top 5 type candidate at DC. The current coordinators at VA Tech, Wisconsin, or Boston College would be my preference. Get one of those guys to coach with the talent we already have on the roster and it's a slam dunk, night and day difference.

Secondly, you cannot extend Cameron. Go out and get the best offensive coordinator on the market. Preferably one that runs a pro style offense, or at least not a HUNH guy.

Thirdly, you make sure that Miles knows that his only job is to be a big picture, CEO type guy. Help with recruiting, big game decisions, and the offensive line. You do not get to call plays on either side of the ball and you must let the coordinators have complete and total control of their side of the ball.

If we can do that, we keep our currently ranked #1 recruiting class in tact, we save a ton of money, we let Les go out on his own terms, we get to compete right away for championships. It is by far the best and most logical option, but knowing Alleva he will fire Miles and hire and absolute trainwreck as our new HC.

I would agree that LSU is a top job, but to lure a proven successful coach from a current gig, is not an easy thing.

I think most all fan bases over-estimate the possible candidates for their school.

It can be done with SEC money. Look at your own coach for proof

Nailed it.
But it appears the crazy train has left the station and reasonable thought processes will be abandoned for what will be a huge gamble.

God I hate animus-driven Narratives presented as fact.
Stupid un-provable premise, followed by insults wrapped up with a glib threat.
Like you believe you literally can see the future.

I hate LSU as much as anyone, but it's a damn good coaching gig.

Hell I've never coached football a day in my life, and I could probably win 5-6 game a year at LSU. Louisiana high school recruits are beastly, and they're pretty much all LSU's to lose in any given year. I don't think any other CFB program has a more lucrative guaranteed pipeline of talent than LSU.

I'd want Les to stay too if I was an Alabama fan

I'm one Alabama fan who absolutely hopes Miles is gone, because the melt when the next guy is less successful will be enormously entertaining.

I don't expect any head coach to stay with the same team for more than 10 years. This is Miles 11th season. He'll be gone. And Saban has at most one or two seasons after this one. If he stays longer, he won't be meeting my expectations.

lsu is a top job, but ya'll aren't getting a home run hire ... i'm sure the notion of a "home run" hire may have existed before saban to alabama, but it's been every major program's mantra since ... "we've got to have a home run hire" ...

I mean.. there's a list of names out there that sounds pretty good to me. There's a few guys you make say no.. Chip/Brian Kelly, Jimbo, Bill O'Brien, etc. Then you have guys like Larry Fedora, Tom Herman, Dabo, Fuente, Mullen..

I may be crazy but I feel like that's a pretty good fricking list of potentials.

if chip want's to get back into college, he'd be a hr hire, imo ... fisher, yes, but i don't see any chance of him leaving fsu for lsu ... not insinuating lsu's job isn't a special one, but there's no difference between lsu and fsu in my mind ... the others are great names, but which ones are you absolutely certain will bring sec titles/national contention to lsu on a consistent basis? ... i think ya'll are doing the right thing in letting miles go, but whenever fans say "it's got to be a hr hire or we aren't making a change", i wonder what they're thinking, cause hr hires do not happen ... i like the frost guy cause he's young and has coached this and that, but several of your fans say 'no' because he has no hc experience ... several have said a herman type hire isn't good enough for lsu ... etc ...

likely top 5 job in the counrty,

So, out of Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, USC, and Texas, which do you think LSU is better than?

Just for kicks, let's throw in Oklahoma and Michigan.

Top 10...maybe. Top 5? Hell no.

Just curious...were you also one of the ones touting L5U's OL as the best in the country?

LSU is a top 10 job in the country, not top 5 but top 10. I also think it would be foolish to let Les go with an 8-3 record.

Why? There is no preparation, no game planning, no player development.

The coaching staff is a good ole baw BBQ.

This program is going nowhere under Les.
