I can...and you have to go WAY back for this one.

Same height, same weight, won the Heisman in 1993.

He won't be able to run against great defenses (Bama and LSU) and he doesn't have the arm YET to be able to beat those teams through the air but he definitely has potential to be a monster of a QB in the future. The way he's built this year he has a chance to beat Arky, Aub, State, and the rest of the teams on the schedule though.

Doug Flutie is 5'8. I'm talking about a more recent QB that won a national title. (Not Cam Newton, Not Tim Tebow. Another QB who was 6'1, 190).

Charlie Ward is an interesting comparison. We can only hope Johnny is that good.

Looks good so far, just have to wait and see what his numbers are at the end of the year after he has a full SEC schedule under his belt.

Incidentally, I just discovered that Charlie Ward is now head football coach at Westbury Christian in Houston. I did not know that. Pretty admirable, considering he had more lucrative opportunities elsewhere.

Football or basketball? Their basketball program is legit. He made quite a bit of money in the NBA so I'm guessing he just enjoys coaching high school.

I didn't know that either though, that's really interesting.

The beatdown by A&M was a little worse this year but not much compared to last season at Kyle.

Actually, it was MUCH MUCH WORSE.

-With 13:58 left in the half last year, the score was 20-14 A&M. SMU didn't score until 7:01 left in the 3rd quarter to make it 27-3 A&M.

-SMU had 268 yards passing and 79 yards rushing last year. This year, they had 203 yards passing and 106 rushing.

-Last year, Zach Line had 128 yards rushing. This year, 104.

-Last year, A&M had 246 yards passing and 212 yards rushing. This year, they had 380 yards passing and 225 yards rushing.

-a 45 point margin on the road is much worse than a 32 point margin at home.

-This was only the third(?) time a June Jones team was held without a touchdown in 20 years?

Both games were close early and then A&M pulled away in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Our offense was actually much slower to get in a groove this year. Zach Line was just more effective early last year. I don't know that a 45 point win vs a 32 point win is so drastically different.

The point is that SMU got hammered by A&M both years and this year they got beaten soundly by Baylol with a blowout of their own against SFA. I don't know that they are much worse this year than last, their offense actually had great numbers in their first 2 games but were simply out athleted by us. Wouldn't shock me if they got it together and made some noise in Conf USA.

I haven't seen this based on our game and his HS film. I've seen a bunch of floaters.

Didn't get to see the SMU game.

This is accurate. He has the third best arm on the team. Granted it is getting better, but he doesn't have that natural arm strength, and probably never will. But you can get by and be a great college QB without arm strength. See Jason White.

If SMU had the same offensive line they had this year, they beatdown might have been by more. They had 5 seniors and lost every single one of them this year.

I've been trying to come up with another qb that had his skill set. I really can't think of one... He's got some flutie in him for sure, but a muuuuch better athlete.

He's Tim Tebow but a lot quicker, a lot faster, 3 inches shorter and 40 pounds lighter.

I got lambasted pretty bad for my opinion already on this after the FLA but I honestly think he has a ceiling like RG3 ...

He has all the tools you look for in a QB and if Sumlin brings him along right, I can see him being a Heisman candidate later on in his career.

I think he's more like Joe Montana only a lot less accurate, doesn't read the field as well, quicker and faster. But they are both white.

Joe Montana didn't have problems with arm strength like Tebow or Johnny Football.

He's not RGIII. RGIII is an elite speed guy with a cannon arm that is also 2/3 inches taller. RGIII doesn't have Manziel's natural playmaker instincts or moves while he runs though.

Charlie Ward isn't a bad comp. Similar sized guys that could run and throw.

Honestly I have never seen anyone quite like him. He runs a low 4.4 40 and looks like a running back but he is so instinctive with throwing the football. He's such a gamer though, you can tell he just loves competing and winning.

As tempting as it will be to compare him to past QBs, Manziel really is his own man when it comes to the position. And that may be the most exciting thing about him.

it's going to be a fun 4 years if he can stay healthy. I'd like to see him put on an extra 10lbs in the coming years... He's about to take a BEATING in the next couple months. He's actually really good at taking hits, though. Some guys contort their bodies to absorb hits better than others.
