As tempting as it will be to compare him to past QBs, Manziel really is his own man when it comes to the position. And that may be the most exciting thing about him.
He does seem unique, I can agree with this.

He's no David Moon Walker.

Gotta google that one

Okay, found him...gotta bone up on A&M lore....since they are our main rival now.

I am friends w/David on facebook. Pretty cool guy knows his stuff and his book was good.

Really? What's he think of Manziel or has he spoken on him yet?
Posted on 9/18/12 at 12:30 am to dbt_Geaux_Tigers_196
I haven't seen him say anything yet, I think he is waiting another game in, remember they missed a game due to Issac.

Right. And probably best to see a good part of the season anyway. I no doubt spoke prematurely but when you see talent, well it's there. Just a matter of what he does with it,
Thanks for the Walker reference.

He needs to improve on his accuracy, his pocket presence, and progressing through his reads.
He has incredible athletic ability, but 2 or 3 of our touchdowns against SMU don't even come close to happening against SEC defenses. He needs to be able to compliment his play-making ability with an ability to lead steady, long drives that don't need ridiculous plays by him to succeed. IF he can do that, he's going to be special to say the least.

I will say it again as I’ve said for years: I never feel better about America than when I’m kicking back to watch a fabulous Saturday night game in the SEC. I love the PASSION and the VENOM! Maybe one day even Aggies will belong.
He's a great writer, and obviously very informed.

He has been arrested three times already for substance abuse issues, he won't make it to his senior year.

Very enjoyable read!

Lots of college athletes bounce back from arrests and go on to have very successful college careers. But you wouldn't know anything about that, now would you...

YPA - 7.08
That's TERRIBLE for any variant of the Air-Raid. 235 yards/game is also somewhat low especially considering the competition they've gone up against-admittedly UF is good but SMU is several rungs beneath them on the ladder.
You can say that its a bit of a combination of youth & program installation, along with personnel adjustments and a flat out lack of personnel.
I think he'll be a very good SEC QB. He'll probably stay 4 years because Air-Raiders typically have issues w/credibility in terms of their evaluations by pros.
A&M HAS to get that YPA up though. That offense isn't designed to produce that metric and win consistently.

well, he did say this on his blog....
quote:
A little further back, when A&M and SMU lined up in 1973, it was the very first time in college football history that two freshman quarterbacks, two true freshmen quarterbacks that is, had ever lined up against each other; myself and Ricky Wesson.
If this is true, it's the first I've heard of it.
And back on topic, I've been saying Manziel is going to be a good one.

He was arrested for having a fake ID and drinking underage in a bar. Not exactly the same you agsessed sip. Go back to your Big 12 board and fap about your big "SEC win!" last weekend against mighty Ole Miss.
