Yes, a freshman with only 2 games under his belt, still very early. But watching him against UF and seeing his stats from SMU game he's impressive. A bit impetuous and gambling he looked to me to have all the talent in the world plus a natural leader on the field. Fast with a good arm and quick release he can thrive in the SEC with appropriate supporting personnel. Again it's early and I might be wrong but he may become a Heisman caliber QB from the conference in a year or two.

I sure hope so, he still has a lot of maturing to do as far as pocket presence and things like that

I wasn't impressed with his passing in our game but the little fricker can run some for sure.

I've only seen him vs. UF, but I was extremely impressed with him considering he's a freshman starting his first game. From what I've seen so far, I'd say, yes, a superstar in the making. aTm fans should be ecstatic about his future. The kid can run like the wind, has a cannon for an arm and did not commit any turnovers against a good, aggressive SEC defense.

Yes but think about it: His last game was in HS. Now he's playing the Gators. It's just a guess on my part, we'll see how it goes.

I haven't seen this based on our game and his HS film. I've seen a bunch of floaters.

He'll be a good 'un if he can stay healthy. All that running around makes me nervous but damn he's fun to watch.

It was only against SMU but he was absolutely scary several times in the game. Most of all he started throwing downfield but also really used the legs. He can throw the ball across his body on the run with accuracy like very few human beings can. Here are the highlights of the game, I'd just put it about :50 seconds in and watch until 3:45 if you want to see why they call him JFF:

He is a very unusual QB. It is EXTREMELY hard to say how he is going to progess, but there is good reason to think he'll be a superstar. There is also reason to temper those expectations. He is extremely unorthodox.
Check out the play at the 2:20 mark. He routinely throws off the wrong foot. He did it at least three times in the SMU game.

He doesn't have a cannon. Arm isn't that strong but what worries me the most is his accuracy. We'll see if it improves. He is fun to watch, but I'm not sure how much running around he'll be able to do with defenses that have fast LBs and ends. We'll see.

SMU is terrible. Worst June Jones coached team I have ever seen.

They look very bad. IMO it all starts with their QB unfortunately. I feel bad for Garrett Gilbert at this point, he just isn't a college QB.

The talent is definitely there I would just like to see him hang in the pocket and go through his progressions a little more. UF was smart in the first game with their 2nd half adjustments. The Gator fans around me couldn't understand why UF started holding their D-Line back in the 2nd half but to that point he hadn't shown the ability to throw down field, so why blitz him and give him the ability to slip away like the first half. Not saying we would have won, but I really would have liked to seen that Florida game again, had we not had our first game postponed.

Right, he's not going to outrun Mingo and he's not going to beat the Tide's D on his own. That's why the qualifier 'with appropriate personnel' in the OP. But either way I like exciting football and am glad he is in the conference, and wish him well (except against LSU).
