No. Pretty sure it is 4.

Because….. this is a what have you done while playing in the SEC conversation.

And….. here’s why you can easily discount their past. Nebraska was also once upon a time great just like OU. They move out of the Big 12 to the Big Ten and they are mediocre at best. Arkansas had a really nice history until they moved to the SEC in 1992. Since then, they have an all-time losing SEC conference record.

Let’s wait 10 years and see just how good OU is when they have to face a significantly more difficult schedule.

There's no doubt OU beat up on a bunch of pansies on their way to Big Eight titles.

But they've done so much more than that.

No. None of OU's previous success will count toward anything in the SEC.

But 21-10-3. Can’t over look that record.

Actually, I can.

16 of those 21 came prior to the conference re-alignment. Tennessee was a vastly superior program during that era, so it's not out of the ordinary at all.

LSU leads 7-5 in the modern era. We also have won 7 out of the last 10.

So basically, I don't really care about ancient games from the 30's and 40's. LSU has had the upperhand in current times.

No one claimed they were. But Georgia was 6th in the SEC up until the last few years, and now you want to try to pretend you’re the SEC’s #2 all time? That’s not possible unless the gap is so narrow between #2 and #6 that a program can climb that far that fast.

Bro, you need to stop man. You are making a fool of yourself and playing right into the Auburn little brother stereoptype. And this isn't even in response to Alabama...

Nationally, Oklahoma can make the claim with NCs. But it would seem that SEC success has a lot to do with SEC championships as well. The Sooners won't be bringing their conference championships with them.

And nationally trumps regionally.

The only people that bring this stuff up are just tInsecure about their future place in this conference

I forgot LSU didn't start playing football until 2000.

I don't recall saying they did. I am responding to the 21-10 record as a major metric for the rankings. There are many other things that also work in Tennessee's favor besides that. The record paints an inaccurate picture.

I also never said we are ahead of Tennessee.

Reading comprehension would be a good thing for you.

Because they didn’t earn it by running through the SEC gauntlet

All time games played against Final AP ranked teams:

2. Florida- 314
3. Alabama- 311
4. LSU- 307
5. Auburn- 301
7. Tennessee- 295
9. Texas- 283
10. Texas A&M- 290
11. Georgia- 283
12. Oklahoma- 282

OU has played only one less game against a ranked opponent than Georgia, and the 12th most all time. Hardly a reason to disqualify them from the conversation.

Are we going to pretend Ole Miss is a better program than Oklahoma until the Sooners finally win 5 SEC titles? Is Northwestern a stronger Big 10 program than USC?

Arkansas could prove its football prowess these last 30 years without bringing SoutWest conference championships with them. So can Oklahoma. But neither will ever be spoken of in the same breath as historically great SEC teams.

Georgia was behind Florida and Auburn in terms of program ranking up until the last two seasons.

Florida, yes. But certainly not Auburn. we were almost dead even in everything.

The last two seasons vaulted us past Auburn. Not way past, but past nonetheless.

I don't understand how UGA would be 6 of 6 in the rankings before 2021.

After the 2016 season, here is where teams ranked in all-time AP points (25 pts for a 1st place finish, 24 pts for 2nd, etc)

2. Bama- 1015
9. Tennessee- 686
11. LSU- 624
13. Auburn- 555
14. Georgia- 550
16. Florida- 499

At that time, Florida and LSU had 3 National Titles, Auburn and Tennessee had 2. And Georgia had just one.

Georgia was easily 6th out of 6. Not until UGA won its second title in 2021 did they pull ahead of Auburn and Florida.

Huh? That's not the official AP all-time rankings. This is after the 2021 season:

Ohio St
Bama
OU
ND
USC
Michigan
Nebraska
Texas
UF

LSU
FSU
Pedo St
Miami
UGA

Vols
Auburn
UCLA
Clemson
A&M

Washington
Sparty
Arky
Wisconsin
Iowa

If AP points and MNCs are your criteria, this makes sense. What about other data points?

Winning percentage
Wins
Conference titles
Bowl Games
etc?
