Yeah man. I realized I was mistaken in my belief you posted Gata was #2 in the conference for a while, so I withdrew my erroneous response.

So sue me.

As for the strawman fallacy. I unfortunately deal with that a lot.

What's weird to me is not discounting successes from like 1900-1960 in relation to more recent success.

Tennessee has 6 sec titles since 1960. 6 other SEC teams have as many or more.

There's the 90s when Florida was 7-3 vs Tennessee.
2008 is another good example.
I said a minute, not an hour.

it's a discussion between Tennessee/Georgia/LSU

Thats is fine if you look at raw data. But if you really want to do a deep dive and get real about the data, you have to include Auburn.

Here is why:

AL.com did a deep dive several years ago that included the winning percentage of the opponents of every SEC team.

AU has played the toughest schedule of any SEC team over the entire history of the SEC BY FAR. It is not even close. AU's historical strength of schedule vs any other SEC team is so far beyond any other SEC team to make it essentailly incomparable.

It is pretty impossible to quantify what an average SEC schedule would have meant in terms of wins , losses and championships for AU, but I suspect it would put AU right there with a legit arguement as the second best program in SEC history.

AU's traditional rivals were Bama, UGA, FL, and Tenn. And AU has played LSU a lot and AU played Vandy regularly when Vandy was one of the best teams in the SEC along with Geogia Tech.

The AL.com analysis which simply compiled the win loss schedule of SEC opponents for all SEC teams was pretty mind blowing. I do not remember the excact rankings, but AU was in a different universe, Bama was last or second to last (I know Bama can't play Bama) and LSU was in the middle. Don't remeber where UGA or UT shook out.
