I guess we need to discuss banning the fast break in basketball while we're at it.

I thought the exact same thing earlier.

1.This isn't english.
2.Also, every defense is ranked nationally.
3. When did anyone say Auburn's Defense was good?
I wasn't responding to you. In case you didn't know, this site actually tells you who each poster is responding to. He did make that argument, thus my reply. Thanks for your interest though, big guy.

We do not want that pussy "strategy and thinking man" football, we want pork rind, inbred, full back tat, 'pew 'pew Merica football!

And since AU'd defense was so awesome against the HUNH was was their D ranked nationally?
WTF does that have to do with making substitutions?........that's what this is all about.

Right. Since bball and football are designed exactly the same. One was designed as a continuous game, the other was not. Sweet Mary.

Which is appropriate, since the whole thread is about shitty nonsense

It's not only coaches and players, the refs are having a hard time with it as well, and in instances not able to enforce the rules properly thus hindering the defense even more by not letting them get their subs when allowed and defense called. If y'all have to run an offense that doesn't allow the D get properly set in order to be successful, then that's your problem when the rule fixes that.

Yeah, well, I see which fans are against the HUNH and it's not surprising in the least. So yes, you get crappy responses in crappy threads.

Pretty much sums it up.

So it's either about player safety or it's not. It's one or the other. You gumps need to talk with saban and figure out which one it is.

I quoted someone that said it was impossible. I said it was impractical. Even then, the person I quoted was using "impossible" in the sense of "impracticable," as it is certainly NEVER impossible to substitute. Many people don't need the nuances of the English language explained to them so explicitly, but you obviously do. I'll do the best I can.
You have said multiple times in this thread they are unable to sub. This implies an inability to do so. However, since you have the ability to infer what others are thinking when they use words they clearly did not mean to use, lets be as specific as possible moving forward.
quote:
Should the offense be able to determine when and if the defense is able to substitute freely based on the down and distance? I lean toward "yes" because in the history of football, this has been the case
Then why have you been arguing counter? You say you don't care about this, yet are putting a lot of effort into being a devils advocate.

However, I can see both sides of the argument have valid points.
I've yet to see a valid argument for the rule change besides the one of the few fans on here who are honest about this. It is the coaches trying to find a way to gain an advantage over an offensive scheme that at this moment, they are having issues stopping. Which, again, is not a valid argument.

dear lord your panties are in a bunch. I was responding to your post because it made no sense as a response to the person you quoted. Nowhere in his post did he mention AU's defense being ranked at all.

It's not about that it's for other reasons, but you can't get rules changed in a non-year unless under the guise of player safety, pretty clever eh?

at least you admit it.

Basketball is a continuous game. If you like that sort of thing, you can watch basketball or soccer or rugby or hockey.
Football is unique. Why does everyone want it to become something else?
