and i think the player safety angle

the fact that you need an angle suggests BS

if it was about safety it would be an issue (the issue) and premise for the change.

not "ok, guys how are we going to get rid of this thing?"
"we could try to say its a safety issue!"

this whole ordeal has been an excellent education on the mentality of the average Bama fan.

I'm just stating what I prefer. I played football growing up through highschool. I always enjoyed it for what it was. It was something that my dad and I bonded over. It seemed slower, more strategic, planned out.

The HUNH seems so quick and simple. Auburn runs like three plays. Not very interesting to me.

I'm just an old soul, I guess. Football may very well just evolve into three or four plays per team and we'll see who can snap the ball the fastest and catch the other team off guard the most. But if that's what most people want, then so be it.

I think the only valid concern is Saban can not figure a way to stop it.

Like in 2011 when Gus had recruited his style of players for 3 years and scored exactly 0 points and gained only 140 yards? Or are you going to blame that on Gene?

Or this year when Saban held Gus well below his season averages on offense?

So HUNH needs to get off your lawn?

if it doesnt allow for the D to sub how does the O have enough?

There is some inconsistency in how officials control this part of the game. The defense can only sub if the offense subs, so by definition the defense is reacting / starting it's substitution after the offense. Some officials actually do a good job of allowing the defense an appropriate amount of extra time to make that reaction, some don't. I think that the inconsistency of officials making the judgment call of "giving the defense time to make subs if the offense does" is one of the reasons they have proposed a standard 10 second rule. Again, I don't like the new proposed rule, but I think officials are having a difficult time consistently enforcing the current rule and that is partly to blame for this new proposal.

I hope you're not insinuating that Alabama stopped Auburn on offense in any way last year.

proved pretty effective against bamas complex offense

also, 3 plays(out of one package to add) because we had a few weeks with a new QB

was gus running the hunh when he scored zero points against alabama in 2011? nick knows how to stop this crap, he just had personnel problems in 2013, mainly a #1 CB who is really just a #2 guy and was injured the whole year, and then a bunch a true freshman and guys who had never played CB in college. in 2011 we had 2 first round cbs playing who could cover in man and we shut gus down, made take his ball and run home

You know the flip side to this is Gus gashed Saban's season averages on defense, right?

What was it, 90 ypg rushing coming in? And Gus goes for almost 300?

ETA: Averaged 320 ypg going into the IB. Ran for 296. 24 yards difference = "well below".

The stoppage of play lets both teams set back up and go at each other. It's kind of the whole point. It is one of the big things that separates football from soccer and rugby.

Yeah it's better when there is more continues play and less stoppage time. One of the reason I now like rugby better. In rugby now you can even get penalized for sitting on the ball in the ruck too long.

I really can't believe Saban has been such a whiny arse bitch about the HUNH. Dude has won almost every game he has coached for a long time now.

Bama fans have to hate his whining on this issue. Dude's head has gotten all swole up.

this will not be changed by the rule

if you want to change this, then when an O sub is made stop the snap allow all player changes to be made then allow the snap. much like BBall

How the hell are they going to officiate when an offense snaps the ball on second 32 because a defender jumped offsides? Who gets the penalty then.

Basically, a defender can go across the line and shoot the shite with the running back from the other team as long as he is back over on his side before second 29? Stupid arse rule.

Alabama did a relatively okay job against Auburn's offense last year.

Auburn punted 6 times and gained 393 yards, so Alabama's D clearly made some stops. I actually put the loss more on the other side of the ball - Alabama's offense/Auburn's defense (and of course special teams). Auburn's offense was certainly productive, but I think you are "mis"remembering if you think Auburn's offense was moving at will the entire game.

Just like you chose to ignore 2009 & 2010 because it doesn't fit your agenda.

2009, Bama came into the IB giving up only 9.9 ppg. Gus scores 21.

2010, Bama came into the IB giving up only 1.3 TDs per game. Gus puts 4 on them.

ETA: 2011 is the only year in which you can fall back on. So just keep using that year as your measuring stick. Because 1 out of 4 is the norm and not the outlier, right?

Who was Auburn's QB in 2011? Why do you want to single that one year out....of the four times Gus'O has gone up against saban?
