If Pearl was at Alabama I would say the same damn thing. Everyone in Memphis said Calipari was never going to leave, but as soon as one of the blue bloods of the sport come calling guys leave. I realize the relative intelligence level of many of the Auburn posters on here is low, so it is impossible to have a rational discussion especially considering the lack of simple basketball understanding.

If he is able to turn around Auburn he isn't staying. You have a 9,000 seat arena and in Alabama the talent level is relatively low. There is a ceiling attached to a job like Auburn or Alabama.

Winner.

That ceiling is the Elite8, same for Mizzou.

Yea and Chris Peterson had no reason to leave Bosie. Would it really shock any Aubie if Pearl put in four good years at AU than jumped at a chance to coach a blue blood like IU or UCLA?

Bruce Pearl won't accept the Auburn job, so all of this talk is meaningless...

Yeah I'm a big Brad Stevens fan. Best thing for y'all is he is pretty damn young and I don't see him ever choosing to leave the Celtics.

A lot of schools offered him a lot of money over the years. He realized he had a ceiling at Boise.

The future is also looking bright for us. With the right moves the Cs are a title contender in two years. He has the ownership, fanbase, and players behind him. It would take a lot for him to leave.

Apparently he didn't feel they were the right job for him. Like you said, many came after him but he turned them down, because he was successful and enjoyed BSU. Who's to say the same can't be said for Pearl, if he is successful at Auburn? (I believe Peterson also had some ties to the State of Washington also)

I mean, you were one of the ones saying there was no chance in hell that Pearl would take the Auburn job in the first place.

Sure Pearl could fall in love with Auburn and stay there for the remainder of his career. But how probable do you think that is? How often do coaches stay at one place when better, more lucrative deals are out there for them?

I think it was a grand slam hire, and I wish we could have pulled it off, but I would expect the same thing at UA. Our basketball jobs are not destination jobs.

California.

He was offered several jobs in Cali and turned them all down.

Like I said, it depends on how successful he can be at Auburn. Nobody will out spend us for him. If he can build a team year in and year out, which has happened in Auburn for blips of time, again, why would he leave?

There are schools who pay their basketball coach more than you have your football coach.

Because no matter how good he makes y'all, it's still Auburn basketball. The lure of winning at a premier job is too much to overcome for most coaches. Maybe Pearl is different, but the chances aren't high.
