I say we still have a ton of baseball to be played.

Alot of teams could fall into this category. The SEC baseball season is a quite a beast, lets see where everyone is standing at the end of this month.

The craziest thing about college baseball to me is that the weather can really affect many of the teams. The second biggest factor in any given conference race is the fatigue of the starting pitchers. Your staff has to be able to be consistent even when they wear down in the second half of the conference season. That is why 20-10 is usually the benchmark for the regular season champion. It is just hard to get more breaks than that.

I just wonder I an SEC team will get peckered like UK did last season
Probably. As long as the NCAA has an opportunity to put a regional up north they'll do it just for "balance" sake.

Way to be a thread killer. We can't speculate, so let's just talk about it when we already know the results. Worst. Message Board. Ever.

not sold on UK yet but other than that I agree
Just out of curiosity why aren't you sold on UK yet? (Or anyone else who wants to answer).

We've just gotta start hitting the ball better and get a little better stuff out of our Sat/Sun guys. Our pen has been very very good and we have good starting pitching, just gotta start showing it on the back half of the weekend.
I am not worried at the moment. Yes, we've lost 2 series we shouldve won, but there's alot of baseball to be played.

Let me preface this by saying I like USC's team. Which is worth more in the standings, wins or reputation? I rest my case. If USC picks up its play it will be there like everyone else. It is winning, not what happened three years ago that will get you there.

It is a pet peeve of mine when people do that. A lot of things can change. Well, how about I just send you a newspaper with the standings in it when it is over. I figure most people come on a message board because they want to talk about current and future happenings and whether the double rainbow MEANS anything, no?

I have to agree, our recent history should allow us a bit more benefit of the doubt. Yes we got swept at home in shitty weather while being fairly injured, but we still got swept. Our team seems to flick the switch when the tournament starts, the most important part til that time.. is working out the young guys and making it to the tournament. If Holmes works through his pitching funk then we have massive all around pitching staff built to grind out series wins.

South Carolina fans have to admit that reputation is a double-edged sword. The skipper that led that impressive stretch is not in the dugout anymore. So one could very easily say that that era is over because the architect isn't there any more, right?

This is the cause for concern. Every season, Bianco coached teams loose too many series to teams with inferior talent. Usually, it's at the end of the regular season and in the NCAA post season (for some reason, we actually play well in the SECT under MB). The fact that we've already dropped 2 series on the front end means the pressure will be even greater on the back end, causing Bianco to have massive seizures, fits of catatonic behavior and wear adult diapers to soak up all the arse water he'll loose with every pitching frick up and offensive bed shitting play he calls in May.
tl:dr cliffs. Bianco chokes under pressure, he's building pressure in March, guaranteeing a collapse in May. Awesome.

To a degree yes you can say that, But we didn't go out and get a whole new staff we just brought the #2 guy up and made him the skipper. I have no doubt that tanner has his own hotline in that dugout.

We'll find out this weekend how good alabama is

Still a long way to go. it just turned April when the real college season starts, weather gets better, etc.
Good thing for LSU, they've won two road series.
Still a lot of tough teams coming up, back to back at Ark and Bama will be crucial. Back end of schedule will be tough but getting Fla, Ole Miss and USCe at home will help. Sweeping Auburn and Missouri gives LSU some cushion later on. LSU is very strong with Nola and Eades at top of rotation. The 3rd starter could end up being this team's Achilles heal or if LSU has to go to a 4th or 5th in regional play.

We started out 1-5 in the SEC last season after getting swept by UK and dropping 2 of 3 against someone else (UF maybe? can't recall). Our ace pitcher Jordan Montgomery is out indefinitely but I've heard he's scheduled to be back in 3-4 weeks. Once he's back in our starting rotation we will be contenders again.

Sometimes your number two guy is Pat Knight, Smoke Laval, or Bill Stewart.
