How can you buy that when Ole Miss has a legit defense this year and other spead teams putting out respectable defenses? It can be done. Gus doesn't run hurry the frick up all the time.

Yeah, that argument has never made sense to me. Ole Miss and particularly Clemson (#1 total defense) are perfect counterarguments.

Because some people don't watch football games. They watch their own team play and then make generalizations about others because they heard someone say it. "Auburn goes fast" well no shite we do, but our time of possession is in the top half of the country. We're 57th in the country in plays per game. Yet the people who don't know anything about how our offense was run this year will continue to rattle off that bullshite.

How good a defense can be on the other side of the HUNH is yet to be seen....

Not saying its impossible, just saying Muschamp will have his work cut out for him to field a top flight D behind that offense.

this keeps getting stated over and over again on the Rant, but AU controls the ball over 30 minutes a game, can someone explain how Gus`s offense "hurts" the defense?

GusChamp would be bad news for the SEC...very bad news

Better recruit him some talent.

Auburn's problem isn't just coaching on that side of the ball.

No it isn't. Clemson runs a HUNH and is the #1 total defense this year.

It isn't physical talent that's lacking, outside the defensive line. The players, a lot of which are upperclassmen, miss assignments so regularly that it's expected.

How many times did you notice Amari Cooper running wild in what appeared to be man coverage while a safety downfield was covering nobody? Mental breakdowns in the secondary was Ellis Johnson's biggest problem this year besides the void at DE.

Ha.

Once again people, we don't need a top 5 defense, but a top 25 defense and a top 10 offense would be nice.

Auburn's offense does not kill, and I would argue has very, very little to do with the success of the defense.

Auburn's defense kills itself by NEVER being able to get off the damn field. Terrible tackling, terrible coverage, ridiculous penalties....that'll kill anyone's defense.

The Iron Bowl was a clear illustration why Ellis Johnson needed to go. Under no circumstances does a team that's "well prepared" let Amari Cooper run free for huge gains multiple times per game. It may have been a position coach that failed but at the end of the day it's the DC's responsibility.

Muschamp won't allow that shite.
