One of the best band songs in college athletics.

I read it.. still don't know why it's not being played. Because you were getting shite from networks... that's what I'm seeing..

The question was more rhetorical.. was more of a shot at ole miss for backing down.

^^^^ Still looks silly.

Slow Dixie isn't played because the students and fans ignored the warning to stop yelling TSWRA at the end. You might want to look into some reading comp training to avoid looking silly in the future.

FDWL isn't "Dixie" you numbnuts.

It's a combination of Dixie and the Battle Hymn of the Republic a la Elvis Presley in Hawaii. It's so much more than Dixie and so much better.

Yea... true...

It's a combo of those two anthems. It honors both sides. However, some idiot will declare it not PC enough.

Elvis did indeed do an incredible version of this hybrid.

you do know that "From Dixie With Love" is the blending of DIXIE(CSA) & GLORY GLORY(USA) to symbolize the unification of the UNITED STATES

Guess you missed where I said I read it and comprehended why it's not being played, but thought you guys were being vag's for stopping it because of pressure from fringe groups and networks.

And what your band plays is one thing, what a bunch of fans want to yell should be separate from that, you shouldn't make a band stop playing something bc fans choose to yell something at the end.

No, I didn't because you didn't post that. You said we stopped playing because of pressure from networks. NOT because fans were chanting racist bullshite loud enough to be heard clearly on a TV broadcast. You clearly didn't and STILL DON'T understand the core issue. Stop digging, cave in imminent.

You might want to rethink this part of your post. I'll gladly embarrass the shite out of you for this line of thinking if you prefer. Just thought I'd give you a chance to reconsider your position before I spank your arse.

You're not that dumb are you?

You were getting pressure from networks. Why? Because like you said, the chant could be heard clearly on TV. If you don't think the pressure from networks had a major influence on why it is banned you sir are just retarded.

And it's also a good thing that I mentioned the chants as being a reason it is banned.

Go ahead. Let me have it. I'm not sure what you could possibly give me on this.. I said what your fans chant should be a separate issue from what your band plays. You shouldn't discipline the band because fans yell something at the end.

Perception is reality. People nationally hearing TSWRA think immediately that the whole 60,000 seat stadium are the same people who were shooting at James Meridith in 59. This is not the case but our history of our school leads to this line of thought. Jones gave the students an option but took away the song for the betterment of the university. Real or not perception is reality.

Elvis' song was the inspiration for FDWL actually.

I'm wrong here, I can see how the leader of the school could take away the song bc the perception is the stadium is chanting it.

Either way its all just a shame.

Why I chose to attend Miss State over Ole Miss. I didn't want to be a part of a school that seemed so ashamed of itself.

If I could do it over again, I would've chose neither though. These days, I think college is a joke in general, but the major universities only want your money.

People nationally probably don't even have any idea who James Meredith is, and if they do, it's only because Ole Miss constantly brings it up.

I would've gone to a trade school or just worked at a department store straight out of high school. Probably gonna be doing that post college graduation anyway since jobs are so few.

There's little return on investment for a college degree these days, and at least in the case of my major, I've learned next to nothing that qualifies me for the jobs my degree is supposed to prepare me for.

Really, I don't think your average Joe from Connecticut or New York cares about something that happened in Mississippi 50 years ago.

I live in Mississippi, and the only time I hear about it are in history classes and in articles I read from Ole Miss faculty and students.

Which means the CHANT and the dumbass, jerk off, assholes yelling it are at fault, not the networks, you driveling, snot nosed, arse clown.

If your teenager decides to ride through a church parking lot blasting "Pick My Gun Up by R.A." (google it) at full volume with the windows down, are you going to write a letter to the record company telling them to stop selling R.A. records? Or are you going to jerk that kid out of his car and ground the little jack arse for doing something he KNEW was dumb?

You know what? Don't answer that. I'm actually worried about what you might say.

First of all, no one "punished the band" you small minded, slow witted twat. If anyone was "punished" it was the rest of us responsible fans who enjoyed SD WITHOUT the racist chant. We are the ones who don't get to hear it, the band will simply play other songs.

Secondarily, how in the name of all things retarded is the school supposed to "punish" people saying TSWRA? Are we supposed to place a chaperone next to each person in the stadium to listen intently while SD was being played, to detect anyone chanting TSWRA and have them kicked out? That sounds just about as close to a police state as one could possibly imagine. You all for that, huh?

When groups of people at a sporting event act in a manner that is detrimental to the very organization they are there to support, the only method to effectively neutralize that behavior is to remove the stimulus. Logical, reasonable people all across this nation understand this concept. Immature, self-aggrandizing, foolish, naive simpletons in this country think it's possible to stop that behavior by emailing alumni and students every Sunday morning begging them to take the warning seriously.

The portion of fans acting ignorantly (of their own free will) were warned to stop. They ignored the warning. Therefore, EVERYONE must suffer. Period. Can you fit that concept into your tiny little pin head?

If you want to discuss the validity of the label "acting ignorantly", that's another thread entirely, so don't give me that shite in this one.
